No holiday here, except not being able to post recently. I still haven't been able to access my Sampdoria files on my dead laptop, so that one is still sleeping. In stead I've come quite a way with Rangers, and while I initially didn't plan to make a story about that one, I may have changed my mind and will try to make a quick and rather fast-paced summary of the first season with them.

No holiday here, I'm just getting over having the flu for the last week. It's been a few years since I was actually sick so it kind of knocked me out. Just getting ready to do a few updates now.

Unfortunately I have just been really busy and haven't had much time to sit and play and whilst I already have a little bit to write up and I didn't wanna venture any further without posting updates. 

Playing FUT when I do get a little time half an hr here and there prefer to give CM a little more focus when playing 

Strange. I won the cup semi final in a penalty shootout. 12-11 (awful goalkeepers on both sides) vs Celtic. Then, as the season was about to end, I realized I had no cup final coming up. I went in a saw that Celtic had apparently qualified to the final with an 11-8 win on penalties in the semi final against me.

Firstly, that was NOT what happened in the semi final (I have proof).

And secondly, how was anyone to win 11-8 in a penalty shootout anyway?

Have you coincedentally interrupted the career, and when coming back and opened up the career maybe entered a previous autosave instead of the most recent savegame?

Nope, nothing like that. I also only have one autosave slot in this game, used to have three in FIFA games. Don't know if this is the case for everyone across platforms?

But no. I played the game, 3-3 full time, penalties. 12-11 there, both teams had one player to shoot twice, before one kick was finally missed. And the standings now say 3-3 full time, 11-8 on pens.

I do like your effort to try and find some meaning with it though. I tend to do the same thing. "But have you considered...?" But no, it's just their coding gone wrong or something like that. Just to remove any last piece of doubt, this is a screenshot of the last shooters, followed by the "standings", showing the incorrect winners of the game. With a score that is also impossible to achieve in a penalty shootout, only shooting one at the time after that first five attempts.

That is weird. Although, if it would happen in my career, I would try to write around it - like in F1 results sometimes change afer the race due to disqualification or penalties. So, here apparently you had four players that were doped, man: The Scottish FA decided to erase those four from the penalty-shoutout results and voila: 11-8 to Celtic 😃

Haha, good one. I have actually tried to "write my way out of it", decided to end up blaming the fans in stead 😉 So my only concern right now is the fact that I missed both my league and my cup objective (to win them both). I really wouldn't want to get fired now...

@CO88LER5 it looks like you can release more than two players per season in FC24, one of your focus points in the old game, if I remember correctly.

Here's an interesting one.  Has anyone noticed this?

Score a hat-trick.  Then sub the player.  At the end of the match, does the player carry the ball off?

In the Xbox version, it seems the ball is floating in the air between the refs when the player approaches to be presented with it, and then he walks off with...nothing tucked under his arm.

Very poor, isn't it?

The issue of players demanding a transfer for no apparent reason?  I've just submitted a bug report...

Well, I would usually agree with this, but for once I don't think it's them not understanding football that's the issue here.

Not understanding the craft of coding seems to be the matter in this instance.

In regards to getting fired for missing the cup, I can now confirm that I won't be. I have begun my second season now, so all is well.

I also seem to recall from the time I was almost fired for not completing the cup objective, that I missed out rather early in the season.

So it was already in October or something, and then I had months and months of not being on the right path, seeing the manager rating go severely down over time.

I don't think the cup objective is as clinical, if you only miss out on it towards the season's end.

Our Top XP author ratings have changed over night: @JustinCase0110 and I had close to 50, now I'm left with 44 and he has below forty, how did that happen?

I think older XPs drop off.

That's how it's worked on the past on here.

Older XP dropping off would be strange. You would never be able to build XP above a certain amount then unless you post every day multiple times. 

Ha, my Rangers career is slowly, but steadily turning into a little reunion of players I've used as go-to players through various saves over the years. The club did most of the job with James Tavernier, Dujon Sterling and Ianis Hagi (though out on loan in season 1), all players I've signed more than once in the past. And now my signings of Brandon Williams and Oliver Burke has only added to the mix. Who else are there?

Michael Murillo, Marseille, and Aiden O'Neill, Standard Liège, that's also the case with them - ironically I've played against them both this season, with Rangers. And then there are Cucho Hernández, Columbus Crew, Luis Díaz, Colorado Rapids (not the Liverpool one) and Tahith Chong, Luton Town.

What about you guys? Do you have any "usual suspects", whom you tend to sign repeatedly?

Yes.

Always a lot of players that previously played for Ajax, or come from Amsterdam. Otherwise players with a solid history at either AZ, Sparta, Heerenveen and Willem II (these clubs are historically sympathetic and compatible to Ajax). That is an ever changing group of players, though parts of it remain the same. A new one this year for example is Julian Rijkhoff: he was an Ajax Academy striker dubbed the next sensation when Brobbey initially departed for Leipzig. But then he returned, which is why Rijkhoff moved to Dortmund II. Only now is he in the game.

Family ties: the brother and cousin of Ian Maatsen for example play for Amsterdamse FC, so this would open up a way in for LWB Ian Maatsen. Or staff, Patrick Kluivert is manager at Adana Demirspor - no doubt he puts in a good word about Ajax. Overmars currently works at Antwerp. Winter en Ten Cate are managing the Suriname national team.

So, there needs to be a line thrown out to Ajax as a club, Amsterdam as a city or people that have worked or are still working at Ajax. I do quite some online research on what would be realistic transfers, when it comes to that.

And even still, they then need to fit within the limitations I always give myself:  youngsters until 23 yrs, OVR 65-75, POT > 80; transfer value never over 30 mln, salary never over 30k. For arrived players, the above is applicable (ties to Ajax, or Amsterdam).
