So, I thought I'd throw the question out there.
How do you use the academy in your career saves?
I always recruit a full set of scouts from the start - the best I can afford. I never set them any limiting parameters, like positions - just go and find players.
I tend to send one to South America, one to Europe and always one in the 'home' country.
The 'external' countries I tend to focus on the most are:
(South America)
- Argentina
- Brazil
- Columbia
and sometimes Uruguay or Chile
(Europe)
Spain
Portugal
Germany
France
Italy
and sometimes Belgium, Denmark or The Netherlands.
I have found, as the years progress, that an increasing number of the players suggested in some of the countries have the same surname. It seems to me that EA has shrunk the list of surnames per country in their database. Why this should be, is anyone's guess. You'd think there was a table in the system somewhere that the program accesses and, if so, why they've removed some names is a bit weird. Anyone else got a view?
I do, from time to time, as a career progresses, fire the odd scout and recruit another, just to freshen things up.
Does anyone do things differently - are there countries I am missing out on? Should I sometimes focus on certain positions, or does that reduce the number put forward each month by the scouts? If I did focus on certain positions, are there some countrties that provide the best strikers, goalkeepers, etc.?
It would be interesting to know what others do.
First, this repost:
Since not very long, I tend to specialize my search (exact positions) in youth academy and essentially do 4 blocks of 3 months; always Netherlands and 2 other countries per quarter.
Results are pretty good and realistic, though at first I tend to go for 15 or 16 year olds (unless it's a goalkeeper). This means youth players won't advance until the end of season 2.
South America yields great attacking players, Belgium gives great defenders, Poland very good goalkeepers and other countries are there because those nationalities happen to be a lot at Ajax.
But in contrast to @CO88LER5 I tend to actually not flood my youth squad with players, always keep it at around 9-10 players per time. And I'm very strict - they're actual OVR already needs to be over 60, while their potential at least needs to be over 80. If they fall below any of those two standards, they're released from the youth squad. Potential top players only. Then, towards halfway of (usually the 2nd) season, new youth players start entering the senior team (as per normal at Ajax).

I never promote an academy player unless he's over 60 OVR. I think I might have done it only a couple of times, where the actual OVR was below that.
I also don't promote anyone whose upper potential limit is less than 90, and I prefer it if the lower end of that range is 80 plus. though I will accept a lower bottom range sometimes. The only exception to this is when playing as manager of a lower division club. The potential range can then be 74-90 plus. Something else: do others have this too? I notice that when playing a game after say 6 PM, I am not as sharp as when I play in the morning. In the evening I'm slower and sloppier, whereas in the morning I'm as sharp as a knife: and it does reflect in the scores whether I played a game earlier or later in the day.

Just sounds like the typical symptoms of being the wrong side of 30 😂
I sh!t u not, it happened again. Ever since the face update, the game while in my career started acting weird and now with that so-called golazo pack, all stadiums have been reset.
When the game is out in septemeber, first thing I do is provide each club with real stadium names. That info is gone and my career is now stuck.
I am going to give it one more try with an alternative club, but if that doesn't work, I'll sit it out until the next game - a little under a half year from now.

That's awful man. I used to do the same thing with the stadiums, but have kind of slacked off a bit lately. Now I edit some, but definitely not all of them. Don't matter too much to me anymore. But I can see why it's frustrating to have all that work gone back to default. Especially if one has already started a save before realizing it.
I don't know what the golazo pack thing is, but it sounds like something related to FUT. Back in FIFA23 or 22 I remember going into FUT, just to check it out. And all my edited stadium names went back to default as a consequence. I don't know if that is still the case or not. But I would fear for the same to happen again, if I was to enter FUT again.

What's the point? I've been posting career mode bug reports in there for the last 3-4 years and nothing gets done about any of them.

Well, I don't wish to be difficult, but I've just skipped over to the bugs section and found, on the first page, 3 career mode reports with no obvious engagement at all.
That took me 2 minutes...Last October or November (I don't remember which) I posted a couple of bugs which, to my knowledge, have never been acknowledged, looked at or commented on by anyone at EA.
I have, until now, stopped wasting my time, but this morning, I have posted two that I know about. Let's see whether anyone actually reacts, shall we?
Wisła Kraków hopefully to return to EA Sports FC 25 - they just won the Polish Cup and thus qualify for (pre-)UEFA Europa League 2024/25. Even though they are a second tier team (promotion not guaranteed), I hope I'll be able to play them again next season: Viva La Wisła!

Sorry to break your spirit here, but a lot of Europa League teams are not in the game. So if Wisla aren't promoted to the first tier, I wouldn't expect them to be in the game. You never know, but if I was a betting man, my money wouldn't be on it.
I'm betting on the fact that they have the license for Polish teams.
One can always hope, but promotion back to Ekstraklasa would obviously be better.
Having the same issues as a long time ago, where I can't press the "Reply" button without being notified that I'm not "signed in". But I am signed in. And I can only write by pressing "Quick Reply". Any help or fixes to this issue?

Been a while, still been plodding along playing CM sporadically although I unfortunately saved over my actual main career 🤦 so I ended up restarting Leeds other week starting from next season and missing out on promotion (was hoping to have been very wrong, but hey ho Championship Football again next season) and rebuilding. Has been quite fun so far haven't really recorded anything just seeing how it goes. Been busy with other things so it's kinda just been my go to when needed to do something else.
