nine games; eight wins, one draw (since last time I responded). It's going on wheels!...

Yes indeed. I'm also getting increasingly restless in this 4th tier. With 46 league games and all the cup games on top of it, I'm getting to a point, where I can't wait to get up in a superior league. I suppose that's the downside of me wanting to start slowly, preferring not to win promotion in the first season.

- 9 months ago@JustinCase0110 16 points clear of 4th: it's looking good.
Getting £2.3 million for a league 2 player is really good, too. I think they were in the second tier when they made their record purchases and sales.
It's a new-found financial confidence that 4 of their biggest purchases have been in 2024 and 2025... - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned VeteranYes, I believe so too. But this club should also be confident, now they're (almost) certainly going to play in a superior tier next season. And with our experiences in the domestic cups, I see no reason to think that it's going to be a struggle up there. It's a bit early days, but back to back promotions is on the table, as I see it. Or perhaps it's just my recent 8-0, 6-0 and 7-0 wins that are talking and pushing my confidence beyond repair...

- 9 months ago@JustinCase0110 Tough sixth round match to come, against Villa.
Flying in the league - very good indeed.
Nice Duncan Edwards reference. Possibly would have been the greatest player - ever. - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Veteran

A huge part of me really wish the crash hadn't happened, and the world could have seen what this team - and this player in particular - could have accomplished. However, the crash and the myths are somehow also what separates Man United from so many other clubs. The way they rose from the ashes, and the way they've continued to honor the legacy of those players by continuing to put their trust in youth.
So perhaps the club wouldn't be the same if not for the crash. And perhaps the emotional attachment from fans wouldn't be the same. So maybe things happen for a reason. Still, I would very much like to be able to look into a crystal ball and see how the club and the players would have performed, if the crash hadn't happened.

Mega result against Newport. Sometimes they just go that way.
Hard luck against Villa, but not surprising really. It's funny how ex-players pop up so often, and in the 'baddie' role.
League One next season. Looks like you're going up as champions, too.
How strange, the way the game is treating Palace... - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Veteran

How strange, the way the game is treating Palace...Yes, Palace is a strange case! As I recall, they were the 2nd best team last season, after Chelsea, only to drop behind Fulham and Brentford in the end, eventually losing the playoffs too. I really expected them to take the first place easily this season, well, obviously I might have challenged them for it with my current amount of points. But to see them where they are, I can't really believe it.
I agree with the previous player thing. He was decent for me, but I never expected him to start for Villa against me, let alone decide the game. Glad it worked out that way though. It made for a good little story in the story, I think. Rather that than some random player sending me out.

Just a case of finishing off, now.
You might even have the top scorer...
What a campaign; you'll find League One a bigger challenge, but possibly not too much more of one.
Can you manage two consecutive promotions, and send County back to the second tier? - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Veteran

Can you manage two consecutive promotions, and send County back to the second tier? That's a good question. In the new season the board expects me to "fight for promotion", whatever that means. Is qualifying for the Playoffs enough? I don't know.

I asked on these boards for clarification on that objective, once. The moderators didn't answer.
It's a bit frustrating, really. - 9 months ago@JustinCase0110
Won by 15 points - impressive.
I thought Fletcher would win the golden boot. He had enough games to overtake those in front of him.
Satisfying season - now the work begins! - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Veteran

Satisfying season - now the work begins!Yes, but he needed those five goals from the last two games. I really wanted him to win the golden boot, now that he was so close. But he kept finding himself in the providing role in stead, and it was a bit frustrating in match 43 and 44. But suddenly it happened in the last two games. Relief.
Now the work begins, yes. I've made a few decisions already and look forward to complete my summer business and start the new season.

Good win!
Yeah, I think they ought to go the FM-route for career or season objectives and just attach certain amounts of prize money. Or, give a two year contract and an objective that needs to be reached in the first two years, instead of immediately.

The game seems to be rapidly reversing the divisional changes you made. Colchester's two consecutive relegations, 3 of the 4 coming down from League One to League Two are going to where they should be, as are the relegation slots from Championship to League 1. Chelsea and Brentford in particular rising up the ranks, Wolves, West Ham likewise from the Championship. The Championship still has a way to go to be 'equalised', though.
Interesting transfer activity. I remember signing Soh quite a few years ago when he was a youngster - can't remember which Fifa it was. It'll be interesting to see if he's as well-regarded in the game as he was then. - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Veteran@CO88LER5 I don't think he is. To my knowledge, his best potential was 83. And currently it's 76. Maybe that's also why he was available on a 2 year loan from Forest. His decline suits me though. I've also signed him once or twice previously, but for bigger adresses than Edgeley Park, as far as I recall. I'm not sure I could have loaned him, if he was in his prime. Splitting his wages 50/50 with Forest has also made it possible to bring him without smashing the wage structure / hierarchy.
