Late show at Notts County for both sides; that must have been interesting.
Must have been unbeaten in the league for a while, now? - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Ace

Must have been unbeaten in the league for a while, now?Yes, my last league defeat was Bolton in match 33. Before that Coventry in match 17 and Bolton in match 9. Bolton being the bogey team of the season. All three defeats being 1-0 defeats, how about that...

You made the last few matches interesting when only one win was needed but it took three games. It all worked out in the end though.
Interesting to see 5 repeats from last year. The fact they are all still at their respected clubs is a good twist, especially guys like Eze that I would think Premier League clubs would buy. The Championship is my favorite league to see teams try coming out of. I remember you ran through it pretty easily with Sunderland after building your squad in year one. I would not be surprised to see you in a playoff spot next season.

I agree. It's fun to play a team that is still somewhat recognizable to the real life version. When I played Liverpool recently, I could hardly recognize them, and I do believe that the Premier League teams tend to buy and sell players far too often, almost having their whole squad replaced only a few seasons in. But lower league clubs seem to be better in keeping their team together, which I find to be preferable.
Sunderland, yes, that was a good run. We'll see how I fare next. Most of my star players are in their late 20's, so this time it's not like I have a youthful side just waiting to explode onto the big stage. So the squad may need a number of changes to be able to take the next step.

Championship it is, then. Gonna be exciting, for sure.
Interesting to see Sheffield Wednesday drop to the bottom tier. That shake up you did has had some effects I wouldn't have expected, albeit that a lot of what's going on seems to be a gradual return to normality.
League 1 doesn't look dramatically different, I suppose. It'll be interesting to see what remains in the Championship of the lower level teams you put in there.
Looking forward to what you do with the squad, given what you said about the age of your star players, although I imagine you will want the experience. - JustinCase01109 months agoSeasoned Ace

Most clubs are just returning to their usual place - for instance Chelsea, who've won three consecutive promotions. And then there are others, who've struggled more than expected. I'm still surprised that Crystal Palace have had such a hard time in League One this season, only making it to the Playoffs on goal difference...
I want the experience, yes. And I want captains and appearance leaders like Fraser Horsfall and Will Collar to still play a role. But at 28 and 29 there really isn't much potential to develop, so at some point I would have to replace them with better players. Regardless of their respective 200+ games for the club. I haven't made any decisions on the new season yet, so it will be fun to get to work with all that soon.

It is funny to see a club like Chelsea still in the lower divisions but then winning the FA Cup. It is realistic for sure, which is nice to see.
All three transfers are under the "best deal" that is great business. Sankoh especially, getting someone at that value for that cost is a huge deal for a club in the Championship.

Absolutely. I've scouted the Sankoh fellow for quite some time, but he's just been out of reach at any point so far. I didn't think I would be able to sign him for 3m, which would double the previous transfer record. But I gave it a go due to his contract situation. I was adamant, however, that I would not go any higher than the 3m, even though I could easily afford it. It felt wrong for me to go any higher, compared to previous signings made by the club.
The selling club quickly went down to 3,6m, which would still have been a pretty good deal for me. But again, I wouldn't go past the 3m and made it a 'take it or leave it' situation. If they hadn't agreed, I would have walked away to target someone else. But luckily they ended up giving in.

Very even start so far. The cup draws have been kind to you compared to the league schedule you have been given.
I know I mentioned it before but Palace moving up the ladder with you is interesting. It does seem like you anyways beat them too.

Not sure what you mean with a kind cup draw. Premier League opposition already in round 2 and Arsenal in round 3 of the League Cup. I could see far easier routes myself...
Yes, Palace has been a fun side story here, and after their heavy struggles last season, their start to this one has been absolutely abysmal. I'm very surprised by this development, didm't expect that!
- LABoog48 months agoNew Ace@JustinCase0110 I guess you are right about Everton being a Premier League side. I still see them as a struggling Premier League team and not a difficult one but that would be a different point of view for a Championship side.

Being newly promoted to the championship, I didn't take their real life struggles into account. Just saw a club that not long ago were two tiers ahead...
Regardless, I usually hope for non-Premier League opposition in the first few rounds, so I didn't find this one particularly easy, especially with Arsenal waiting in round 3.

What a terrible first impression by Mbe Soh, knowing football fans, it will take some time for him to gain trust back. Next two matches are going to be tough but a good way to see where the team is at this early in the season.

To be fair, he did play 43 games for me last season without getting sent off. It's a 2 year loan, so the two red cards in quick succession luckily isn't the first impression given to the fans. And he's actually been quite good, red cards aside. And I would have loved to be able to include him in the Arsenal game. In the following two matches, the game doesn't prohibit me from using him, but it just doesn't feel right to field him again after only sitting out one game.

The logo is the FA Cup, confused me for a minute! No surprise losing to Arsenal. That's the problem with this cup, the fixtures kill you early on with fatigue.
It seems you are falling back into the issues you normally have in the first season. Great defense but bad attacking sides.
Did you change a formation or anything? Maybe you need to do a few tactical tweaks to match the new league.

Oh yes, wrong cup, my bad. Just fixed it.
Similar issues in deed, but I'm not changing too much at the moment. I try to rotate players and keep most of them happy with their gsme time. And I fear too many formation changes will make it harder for me to play them all.
Besides, I'm actually quite happy with staying another season in the Championship. I really don't feel Premier League ready yet, so I don't mind dropping a few points here and there.
