Very even start so far. The cup draws have been kind to you compared to the league schedule you have been given.
I know I mentioned it before but Palace moving up the ladder with you is interesting. It does seem like you anyways beat them too.

Not sure what you mean with a kind cup draw. Premier League opposition already in round 2 and Arsenal in round 3 of the League Cup. I could see far easier routes myself...
Yes, Palace has been a fun side story here, and after their heavy struggles last season, their start to this one has been absolutely abysmal. I'm very surprised by this development, didm't expect that!
- LABoog49 months agoNew Ace@JustinCase0110 I guess you are right about Everton being a Premier League side. I still see them as a struggling Premier League team and not a difficult one but that would be a different point of view for a Championship side.

Being newly promoted to the championship, I didn't take their real life struggles into account. Just saw a club that not long ago were two tiers ahead...
Regardless, I usually hope for non-Premier League opposition in the first few rounds, so I didn't find this one particularly easy, especially with Arsenal waiting in round 3.

What a terrible first impression by Mbe Soh, knowing football fans, it will take some time for him to gain trust back. Next two matches are going to be tough but a good way to see where the team is at this early in the season.

To be fair, he did play 43 games for me last season without getting sent off. It's a 2 year loan, so the two red cards in quick succession luckily isn't the first impression given to the fans. And he's actually been quite good, red cards aside. And I would have loved to be able to include him in the Arsenal game. In the following two matches, the game doesn't prohibit me from using him, but it just doesn't feel right to field him again after only sitting out one game.

The logo is the FA Cup, confused me for a minute! No surprise losing to Arsenal. That's the problem with this cup, the fixtures kill you early on with fatigue.
It seems you are falling back into the issues you normally have in the first season. Great defense but bad attacking sides.
Did you change a formation or anything? Maybe you need to do a few tactical tweaks to match the new league.

Oh yes, wrong cup, my bad. Just fixed it.
Similar issues in deed, but I'm not changing too much at the moment. I try to rotate players and keep most of them happy with their gsme time. And I fear too many formation changes will make it harder for me to play them all.
Besides, I'm actually quite happy with staying another season in the Championship. I really don't feel Premier League ready yet, so I don't mind dropping a few points here and there.

I can see where Mee is coming from with his comments but there is a difference between one game with no goals and being exciting compared to 6-7 in a row. Fans want goals.
I look at Spurs this season. To start the year, fans didn't care about scoring or results they were just enjoying the style of Ange compared to Conte. After a month, that joy went away when we stopped scoring even though we kept playing uptempo.
Goals and high scoring matches will always make fans happier longterm than a great defensive team.

True. I remember Man United's stint with Mourinho, and despite him actually winning a few trophies and ending in 2nd place, I never really got the idea that it would work out in the long run. As it also hasn't in any other club he's been in.
Fans need to see a vision and an idea that's more than just keeping a tight defence. But 'more wants more', so there's no surprise in them raising their eyebrows over the lack of goals, once the fear of relegation is no longer that present.

Catching up after a while: even though you've been promoted, a level up you still have the league's best defense: impressive! That eventually could bring you closer to play-offs, or automatic promotion.

Thanks, yeah somehow I don't have too much trouble defending in this game. It seems to be a standard for me lately, to be tight in the back and not allow too many goals in.
Maybe I could make a push for promotion in the second half of the season. But I do think my squad could benefit from another season in the Championship.

Last time I applauded for the defense. This time: not a single clean sheet.

Haha, that's true. I did come from a streak of 6 games with 1-0 as the result in 5 of them. So I do welcome a few more goals being scored lately. It's less predictable that way.

Wow knocking out Man City is very impressive. Were they relegated at the start of this or did they stay in the Prem?
The scoring is picking up again. Just in time to put you back into the playoff race and still time to catch second. Southampton are probably too far ahead to catch.
I like the Matete signing. For a free signing there is little downside and I remember him being a pretty good player in one of my previous careers.

City weren't relegated, no. I divided teams from the league position at the time, so City stayed in the Prem, whilst United were the ones to start in the Championship. But yes, winning against City was massive. And it was thrilling to do so with a late turnaround.
I remember Matete too, I had him briefly as a reserve in my previous Sunderland career. But he didn't play that much, always had better players ahead of him. But in this save he'll probably be a starter in most games, and he adds something to the defensive part of midfield with some of my other midfielders being more offensive-minded.
