Great start to the season. The fixtures have been kind, avoiding the upper half teams as you settle into the league.
I like the transfer business. It seems like promoted clubs go a little crazy in windows to try preparing for the upper league and they lose their identity.
Sticking with what got you promoted is a smart choice.

At least it's an approach I've always liked. A great reward for the players who won the promotion, in stead of buying 40 new ones like Nottingham Forest did.
2 wins in the first 3 league games was quite a bit above expectation. Now I've played a bit further in, it's safe to say that this good form hasn't exactly continued.

The results are back to reality now but I honestly think fans would be happy with this. The losses to the big clubs are competitive games and even some draws mixed in.
The defense is holding up, Villa, Liverpool, United, and Spurs were all held in check. Very good sign that the club will stay up this season.
I'm predicting a cup win and six points from the next round of games.

Yes, having already played Liverpool, City, Villa (in the CL), United and Spurs, I really can't complain about the current amount of points, drawing against two of them. But it seems like a gap is building from my last win to my next one. Maybe you're right about the upcoming games. Can't expect too much from Arsenal, but Norwich and Palace should be beatable, the latter having just been promoted too.

I think I jinxed you last time by predicting a good run of results and then you went 10 straight without a win. Fortunately things are turning around a bit and results are improving. Beating Leeds three times and then taking a player less than market value from them, Leeds fans must really be upset with you!

Haha, yeah that was a proper jinx. But I appreciate the attempt to guess the outcome of the upcoming fixtures. It didn't quite turn out that way, but results have improved a bit since, so I'm pretty happy about the development all in all.
Leeds is a good little story in the story, turning themselves into a regular UCL side with a lot of top players in their roster: Marquinhos, Gabriel, Inacio, Rico Lewis, Rodri, Rice, Kamara, Ruben Neves, Kubo and Sesko, all with +85 OVR currently. I don't know how they got so impressive, but perhaps it's a result of my initial moving clubs around in the start of this save. So beating them three times was pretty great, and looking at that defensive midfield (Rodri, Rice, Kamara & Neves) it's no wonder that I got to sign the Cohen fellow with a reasonable discount.

A nice draw in the next round of the FA cup. At this point in the season, you should be safe from relegation and you have a very deep cup run as well as a chance for a deep FA cup run.
This has to be considered a successful first season even without a trophy.

A nice draw indeed. Brighton have become a quite difficult opponent in recent years, so playing them in the 3rd round wasn't optimal. Bristol City is arguably an easier task.
Trophy or not, I agree that this season is all about survival, so I really can't complain with the relegation zone being continously kept at a distance.

As a new County fan (at least virtually in this Career Mode future) I agree with your statement. I would rather see us winning the league cup then finishing 9th instead of 12th in the table!
Aston Villa are equals it looks like. Not only close in the table but three straight matches that ended in a draw in regular time.
I would much rather have Everton instead of Liverpool in the final even though you just lost to the former. I think County will pull off the win this time.

Haha, I think you just invented a new thing - being a virtual fan of a football club, only because of Career Mode. In that case, I think I am too. Just saw the news of Stockport signing Oliver Norwood IRL, then instantly thought "hey, that's my club", haha...
Everton in the final is a dream mate. Liverpool have eliminated me three times in domestic cups during this save, all three being in the FA Cup. So I'm happy to avoid them this time!

Congratulations on the cup final. Finally shaking off of the Merseyside demons and winning a final, though against the blue side. It does seem like your shootouts always go long, at least recent ones. Those have to be nerve-racking.
Only 10 games left, a trophy has already been won but it would be nice to see a +10 GD and more wins than draws. Just to make the season really special for Stockport. Finishing top 10 might be too greedy to ask.

Long shootouts indeed, both ending 8-7, but still quite different from each other. In the one vs Villa I only missed one attempt, compared to the Everton final, where I missed four. The latter would also have been a short one, if Hakimi had taken the opportunity to win the game with Everton's fourth shot.

Very difficult run of matches. Trying to find the good news in this, you were close in every match. The margins are slim and a little improvement over the summer and you can be competing with these sides more consistently.

Thanks, yeah close margins indeed. That's definitely a positive, plus soon being done with these challenging opponents. Brighton are next, still a reasonably tough team, and then Man City away to end the difficult streak. After that it's bottom 6 opponents in the remaining four games.
