The error seems to happen after the process of setting up the new season - looks like the created players are not saved correctly.
In order to mitigate this issue, at the end of each season you need to renegotiate the contract of each created player. By doing so seems that the players get saved correctly for the next season and it doesn't crashes anymore.
I confirm i am close to completing 3rd season by taking this approach.

i have tried negotiating the contract. No matter how many times I try I cannot go to the next season without my created players disappearing. Any help, would appreciate it a lot! EA NEED TO FIX THEIR GAME THIS IS A JOKE.

Let me elaborate how i did it:
1. Let's say you have Save 1 as your main save
2. Just before last match of the current season, create a new Save 2 for backup
3. After last match of the season, without clicking advance, go to squad hub and renegotiate the contract with the created player(s) and make sure the player agrees to new terms
4. Edit each team sheet by moving created players to the Reserves
5. Save by overwriting Save 1
6. Proceed to next season
7. To check if the created player is still correct without crashing the game, open the transfers page and do a search by player name - if the player has correct OVR and Position it means it worked; if the position is changed and OVR is wrong, you can exit Carrer without saving and reloading Save 2 - repeat these steps until it works fine
Edit: The issue seems to be random and you have to try over and over again until it works :-/ but eventually it works.
