I second @thurlow885 and hope there is a valid reason for this. I do believe EA's been pretty on point with these things so far (at least with the FIFA games), except some countries obviously having to send more clubs to the European competitions, because so many clubs aren't in the game.
It would be nice to know who won the Champions League and Europa League in the season, you've just finished. I always keep a backup save at the end of every season, sometimes just to be able to go back and look up stats from that season - or if I receive some game breaking board objectives in the new season, then I'm able to go back and load the second season again, as you also say you'd like to now. I highly recommend making such a backup save in the end of every season.
