Need Help...

Can EA do something about the Over the Top Through Ball/Crossing Simulator that Pro Clubs has turned into? Its getting ridiculous now, no team plays the game, all they do is toss it over the top or run to the corner and through it in the box.

1 team we played against had 47 Lobbed Through passes for the game, we had 4. Another team have 52 crossing passes. I get you want to win, but in Elite division you get nothing for a win, so I don't understand the philosophy of do whatever you can just to win. There is no way someone joined a team and said "Hey, can I play 10 games and just run to the corner and cross it in all game?".

This game should be about setting up plays, making good passes and runs, playing defense not just hit 1 button all game and let the broken mechanic play the game for you.

    Couldn't agree more.

The long ball / crossing mechanics are extreamly overpowered and is beyond irritating to play against.

The amount and frequency of long ball passes that would be next to impossible to pull off is insane, and appear to be extreamly easy to pull of if you equip your pro with the right set up.
Players shouldn't be able to hit perfect passes 120 yards while facing the wrong way, only for the ball to land between 2 defenders, perfectly on the strikers toe, over and over again, many times a game - if ever.

Defenders will often totally switch off on crosses, run the wrong way, away from who they're are marking, or barely even jump to try and head the ball, just so the attacker will score a header.

The fact that Ai goal keepers are generally awful at shot stopping  doesn't help either.

For me, it fundamentally comes down to the whole pass & "lock on" effect receiving players have. The game is so 'on the rails' you can almost press any direction as the receiver, and your Pro will still go the direction needed to be perfectly in position.
It's especially noticable with long balls and crosses/headers.

That effect either needs to be toned way, way down, or totally removed. Perhaps then we see less of the impossible passes turning into perfect homing missiles.

Long balls and crossing should still be a viable option, but it's should be far less successful and far more difficult to do.

It feels like a mechanic that is fitting for a mobile game, not console & PC.

I play with manual passing as I like being able to have control, and have always felt that gave me an advantage. However this is the first year I feel at a disadvantage as the long balls these teams are doing are absolutely impossible to do if you actually have to control any aspect of it.

Long balls in really life are a skill , and even the very best in the world at them do not hit the receivers toe within an inch 100% all the time. virtual pros, no matter what abilities they assign, should be able to do that either. Assigning abilities in the menus is not skill, nor is pressing a vague direction and 1 button combo.

As a suggestion - perhaps EA should make the different divisions have different restrictions for assists, "lock on mechanics" and other things that make the game super casual / arcade / mobile -like.

Have things be easy in the bottom division or two, and then gradually get harder, so players have to improve their abilities to move up the leagues. I'm not suggesting the top leagues are full manual - but they should be devoid of any automation.

Anyhow, rant over - but yes, the whole long ball and crossing/headers thing needs to be addressed.

It really needs to be toned down.

We played just a few games last night, had to stop as this was just not fun anymore. Every team would just run to the corner and lob it in to the tall striker every possession. We were able to stop it some of the times, but when you do it over 25 times a match, you are going to score.

There is no skill involved in this, the AI defenders just move out of the way, they have yet to make a stop.

The over the top lobbed pass is just as bad, didn't have that happen as much since they just ran to the corner.

Please do something EA to sort this out, i understand it is part of the game, but to have it an automatic thing, is just dumb.

@EA_DarkoCan we get a response from EA on this. Either telling us this was their intended plan and they like it or that they are looking into this to see about some adjustments? I do believe this site is called "Answers HQ", but we hardly ever get an answer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

It's been 2 weeks and not a response from EA. I can only make about 1 maybe 2 more posts before I get a warning that I am spamming.

Any help from someone at EA would be much appreciated.

  • I agree crossing is way too overpowered,  but I have some points to make about that.

    1) you're only noticing how OP crossing is in clubs compared to 1 player modes because in clubs you have a 2nd player running on to the cross. In co op , crosses are also OP. Having the 2nd human run on to it and not just hope the ai controller striker makes a goof run are two totally different things.

Basicslly, crossings always going to be good in clubs bevause of the nature if the multi player.

    2) dribbling is also way OP. While constant crossing is actually a tactic teams will do (ever seen a team 1-0 down on 85 mins ? They start pumping crosses in)., dribbling like a circus monkey around 4 players is unheard of.

Ever since fifa 12 and they took out the hold A/X (on PS) defence charge , and put in "tactical defending " , marking a player 1 v 1 is just insanely too difficult. It is way, way too easy to get skinned and it's just tedious after a while. It also encourages selfish players who don't pass.

    3) LB + Y over the top thru balls are NOT overpowered this year, or the last few years. In fact, they've been totally nerfed and often aren't even worth bothering with. I don't know hown anyone could say the LB Y is OP this year when it clearly isn't.

4)passing in general is bad now in FIFA. The amount of midfield interceptions is utterly insane (roughly 20x in any one match than what they are in real life)

It almost feels like the Canadians (?? Such a soccer nation!) Who made this game were reearding dribbling and punishing passing. It feels like you're encouraged to dribble.

For example the "sweaty pass"(why is it called sweaty btw? The whole community has this toxic mindset that passing is somehow bad and solo Messi dribbles around entire opponent team is what football is about )

The sweaty pass is actually kind of difficult. The ball travels really slow and the opponent has plenty time to block the pass. It's also tricky to find the exact right pass.

Passing in the enemy box in general is really difficult. Simple passes suddenly go mu ch slower and inaccurate.

Why Buff crosses and finesse shots and dribbling and why nerf power shots, simple passing and passing in the box ?

    Who really knows.
