Player career mode - prospect squad role after multiple seasons

I have played 2 seasons player career mode on EAFC 24 with same club and I see a news article saying debut match during 3rd season. Along with it, the squad role for this player has not changed from prospect despite winning several awards through the course of things. 

Is there something that I'm missing?
