It's true that fitness comes before performance in pre-season friendlies. However, not scoring across any of the three games must be a little concern. At least among the fans, who don't always see the big picture.

It is exactly as he said: this is the best the team could do without the six that had left for EURO 2004: no Bergwijn, no Berghuis, no Sosa, no Wijndal, while Brobbey (West Ham) and Sutalo (Real Madrid) have made a transfer. Regulars like Rensch, Taylor and v.d. Boomen were substitutes, because I wanted to try out new arrivals, return arrivals and two youth academy players.
I've tried a game in traditional 4-3-3 (Nottingham 0-3), in 4-4-2 (Almería 0-2) and last year's 3-4-3 (Lille 0-2). That last game wasn't bad; the goals came exclusively from penalties. While I did not create much, in all three games I had most of ball possession and during the last game I could actually control a large portion of the game.
Nothing to worry about: when the top dogs return and if I pick up a capable player or two, the team will be ready for Eredivisie - whether it's good enough for Champions League remains to be seen...

These signings make great sense! And that picture, that is brilliantly made...
Sertdemir seems to have stalled a little though, only playing 5 league games for Nordsjælland this season, with less than 15 minutes in 4 of them (transfermarkt). It's a pity though, finally we had these two young Danish talents with real face and a high potential in Sertdemir and Faghir, and then they both seem to have fallen off that line of progression. Sertdemir is probably the most likely of them to turn it around though.
Bogarde makes great sense too, especially with his connections to Winston (I thought they were related, but hadn't checked myself). I have him in my Sampdoria save as well, he's been decent there. Ohio is one I've played against in my current save, I think, or else he just popped up in my scout reports. So I have actually scouted him for my current save and could still bring him in at some point. So I'm eager to see how he does for you 😉

Haha, Amourricho returning from Turkish football, because they didn't pay, that's a classic. I like your approach not spending too much. Going to be interesting to see if there'll be a late surprise transfer, or if this will be the squad for the new season. Good luck at Volendam.

Sinkgraven returning makes good sense IMO. A versatile option too, as far as I know, being able to play in more than one position. If Sosa is still the preferred option at left back, I always like that the backup is also able to play in other positions. Too bad with the opening draw, certainly a dissapointment starting that way.
I've just found my notes about Noah Ohio, by the way. He played for St.Liège against me in season 2 and scored in both games. That's when I starting scouting the fellow.

Well, you did anticipate a dip in form, and I suppose you weren't wrong with a 2-0 home defeat in the second game of the new season. Interesting if this was just one poor game, or if you'll start to dig another hole to climb out of.

Interesting start to the new season. Defensive struggles vs Gent, but I like the fact that you addressed this and held the clean sheet at Sparta, even though it may have been at the expense of your attack in the game. Good management, it seems. Good luck in the return leg in Belgium, which I assume you've already played, with results from the other games being there to see.
- 2 years ago@Danimal5981 Defensive gremlins...I know all about those!
I don't know about you, but I find in EAFC24 that:
1) it seems harder than ever to actually get the ball off an opponent. I often make a tackle that somehow doesn't register properly
2) when I do get the ball, so often the player I just tackled recovers so quickly and gets it back off me straight away.
And the number of times I successfully tackle, only to find that the guy I got it off just happens to fall over in such a way that my player is blocked from the ball and another opposing player gets there first.
And the number of times I give away a free kick is a bit suspect, too.
It seems a bit unreal to me. Or maybe I'm just not that good at defending 🙂 - Danimal59812 years agoSeasoned Ace

Good, measured performance in the second leg; just what is needed especially in a cup game, where the thing that matters most is the result. That's a very mature approach for the team to take at this point in the club's recovery. - Danimal59812 years agoSeasoned Ace
