Crosses are overpowered as usual, but I dunno what you mean with the lobbed thru pass; that's been heavily nerfed thsi year, on top of already having been nerfed in fifa 20.
I made a build with 90+ in long pass vision and curve and put on lob pass+ playstyle and my LB+Y passes were still dog-slow and got cut out by the defence basically every time.
I think - not even being exaggerating - I've sent someone thru with with LB Y pass maybe... 10 times in total in fifa 24 ? And I've played 400 games.
As for crossing its OP for sure but it's more to do with the game mode. The fact that there's a second player making a better run than AI would in a 1v1 situstion means the Cross becomes a viable option for a goal. (In 2v2 co op for example crossing is better than in 1v1.)
What I'd do to nerf this is two things.
1. Make ai defenders and gk better at cutting out far post crosses.
2. Add in some kind of button modifier to make crosses curl in. Like, LB + X. Or something. And attach a higher fail rate in general to crosses.
3. I also like the idea of making crosses manual because it feels like the lock on to one zone (this also works against the crosser; I.e try crossing from the goal line near the corner flag... its a bad place to cross and gk just catches it. But why can't I aim from the byline to say the edge of the box? Crosses just always go to the far post area no matter where you stand)
The biggest problem with crossing is that the Offensive player gets an HUGE advantage. AI defenders get out of the way of the cross, even human controlled players are not able to get into position and if they do, the player going for the header magically goes through any defender to get the ball and score. It also feels like the person getting the cross has some sort of force field around them.
- @kendogg89 That's my point manual cross shooting makes it the individuals skill no advantage if you can head it away by placing yourself right shouldn't you be rewarded defensively same as if you put that cross in yourself and scored shouldn't you be rewarded and feel good it was all your own work rather than EA deciding if you were lucky this time or not.
I've recently gone to manual for crossing and shooting and find I can do so much more with the ball than the pre programmed animations.
