Me and my friend are also having this issue. I wanted to log a complaint with EA but lone behold their complaint log doesn't work correctly. Ironically it can't give console options and so there is no way to complain either. Pitiful from EA.

If your seeing friends on the hub but can’t invite them to games or co op lobby’s make sure the right version for you console is installed
