DIvision Rivals has dynamic AI difficulty

     I am currently playing in DIv 7 of Rivals and noticed something suspicious. I had a basic starting 11 with 3 Hero cards and rest all gold rare players with some evolved ones. My subs were all Icons and I was playing against a fairly stable team with 2 Icons and some decent players including Di Natale.

     In the first half I played with my starting 11 and scored 2-0 against my opponent It was fairly easy to defend against my opponent tand there were many goal scoring chances. But in the second half, I substituted all my attackers with Icons and I noticed the opponent team started behaving different, his players became insanely fast and had god like dribbling, my defence was not able to handle them and he went on winning 4-3 against me. It is to be noted that my opponent did not make a substitution till 70+ min so I believe there was something changed on the AI side of things.

I repeated the same tactics in a different game and found similar observations. Is there an elevated Opponent AI performance triggered if you play Icons in your Playing 11?

  • @sajul I play 8 icons in my team from the start, division 5, the only thing i notice is that your ability to play at some level is all that matter.
  • I noticed this too if I go up 2-0 or 3-0 on someone really early in the game my AI on both sides starts getting noticeably worse.

  • Oh yeah, what else can we say to losers haha. I will tell you this my friend: in the end only your good connection to servers matters. There is nothing to do with your ability to play. It’s hard not to score from empty box, but it is what you experience with bad connection most of the time as it is taking seconds to release the ball

    @sajul Even though it’s much worse in weekend league, it’s much more obvious/noticeable in rivals.
    The }}@ in WL is more there to try and make the games feel even so it’s way more frustrating in the end. But in rivals I have seen it just make things incredibly one-sided beyond explanation. It will make the weakest of shots go in. It will make you go 3 mins in to added time when there’s only 1. It will make every shot the opp takes for the first couple minutes go in (this is the most common one)
    You go up a goal or two despite the fact that their players are faster and intercepting everything you can rest assured when you get to the 80th minute your defenders will stop defending and you won’t be able to make a simple pass
    Then there’s always the doozie of the goalkeeper making 15 saves.
