Early access. To get it a week early. I buy 1 game per year. I'm more than happy to drop an extra £20 to play a week early. I wait patiently for months through the build up. When beta drops I make lists of all the new scanned players and managers and start working out which teams I'll be able to do a career mode with, which players I'll sign etc.
Last year I had about 4 career modes planned out from manager, team, players, signings, formation, tactics etc before the game was even released. On release I did my first career mode. Fully scanned Leicester using the Porto manager and bought some of the best Portuguese players like Otavio along with some other newly scanned players like Chalobah, Simaken, Lacroix etc. That career mode followed by the pre planned Laverkusen, Leipzig and Dourtmond was some of the best career modes I've done this year. Getting to at least season 3 on every one of those career modes before getting bored and starting new.
This year will be no different. Will I be disappointed about some players not being scanned or a lack of career mode updates. Definitely. Will I still get super excited about playing the game. Of course. From beta I'll spend the next month going through my lists of scanned players and working out which managers should manage which teams, which teams have the most scans/make the most exciting career modes, which players I'll sign in the first window, what tactics to use for that team and probably spend hours and hours looking through videos of each scan to find which ones look best and which aren't great so I know which players to use most. Last year Simaken was my favourite scan. The red on the ends of the braids with the sweatband on his head made for a great scan.
