The thing with defending is doing just that. Defending. Holding a shape and playing expansive football yet maintaining shape at the back to defend.
Once an attacking player gets the wrong side of you and slips through that is it your breached. Whether you go on to concede is another matter.
One has to try and keep a shape about them while defending yet somehow score themselves. Some people play wide open and allow you to get through them. Others are defending at all costs first.
Now defending is very loose no doubt. It has been worse before though when trying to attack and play intricate football in around the box because the AI kept sticking limbs out and breaking up the play. So defending needed to be made more loose.
I feel too many people forget that defending in itself is an art form.
Now, I concede goals and get mad with myself and the game at times. Though times I make a desperate challenge or out crowd the opposition and it feels rewarding.
I understand all views on this. I do however think people should be/play more patient football and watching the defending shape and be careful who the commit with and when to commit.

@blue166 Not a bad take. My biggest issue with defending is in the box. When you put in a tackle successfully and the defender keeps going like it never happened. Another thing I hate is when it’s a 2 on 1 in a potential goal scoring situation and no one else around the AI backs off to cover no one instead of pressing. Another thing is a putting in a good shoulder challenge with a big strong defender and the attacker runs right around the defender and the defender just watches the ball after pulling off the tackle. Otherwise defense is just fine.
2 other things….defender not marking anyone tracking back breaking their shape and keeping someone on the other side of the field onside when they’d be off.
And for the love of god, attackers shouldn’t be as good as they are defensively.- @scumbagshawty another thing is defenders should be WAY more agile when not sprinting. Players can move really tight with the ball and I hate that defenders move like they are on ice.
1...it is too easy to beat defenders
2...the constant rebounding from a perfect tackle has been going on for years i would rather the ball go to no one then automatically rebound to another player
3...people have had enough because it has been going on for years & players want change & ea have none nothing but release content rather then fix game play
4...the ball just goes through the gk & i mean through him as the shot is straight at them there is no excuse for that period
5...it is the constant skill spamming & lets be honest 99% of the abused skills in this game are not even skills & you never see anyone use them in football period there is no balance in this game
6...anyone remember when a clearance was a clearance for the last 4 games every clearance is a perfect long pass, the modern day developers are so out of touch with the sport they think a 5ft2 women can bully van dijk
