@DogDadAFThis so much, it is blatantly obvious something is going on behind the scenes when you are leading 4-3, the opponent has a red card and all of a sudden your players (starting XI as well as subbed) all move like in glue compared to the opponent and with all the agility of an old man, so you can at best do a standing tackle so the ball goes out for an opponent corner etc and all of a sudden you just cant score, no matter how clean of a shot. In Mario Kart it is a fun and healthy mechanic to give less to the leader and more to the ones lagging behind, in a football game it is just unfair and extremely frustrating, and this is of course not just in rivals (though rivals is particularily bad, though moreso because so many know how to exploit the game mechanics rather than play the game in a more normal manner.

Maybe Im just frustrated...

In any case I find that this game is at its best in a "casual" setting, Squad Battles, matches against friends etc, it feels like there is far too many seemingly random and non-obvious factors many times when playing competitively, even though some things can probably be explain by mistakes and a lack of skill compared to the opponent.
