For me personally, squad battles sum up the problem we've got this year with overpowered AI. I understand that in squad battles the sliders need to be adjusted based on the difficulty you choose, but when you're playing on world class (I could play higher but i'm not wasting my time chasing the ball for 90% of the game on legendary) and you've got 80 pace players absolutely burning 99 pace players, and 99 strength players unable to outmuscle players with 70 strength or lower... you've got a big problem.
It's also clear from playing squad battles that a foul by a user controlled player and a foul by an AI player are two completely different things on this game. I can brush past someone or box them out perfectly and its a freekick, but i can also get dragged back the whole length of the pitch, or get bulldozed when i'm through on goal but if its an AI player that's done it there's never a freekick given.
All of this in isolation wouldn't be THAT big a deal as most people don't play squad battles religiously and games are still easily winnable, but what's concerning is these broken custom tactics that a large % of the player base are using in rivals and champs are allowing that same overpowered AI to to play for them. If you're playing a game where you just pick your tactics and watch the AI do 90% of the work for you then you might as well be playing football manager
It needs a big rethink because there's certain things about this game that are really enjoyable but the overpowerd Ai / "Auto" defending has been a problem from the word go this year and nothing has been done to address it. Its really ruined what could have been a good game
