Games not counting: "error communicating with EA servers" at end of match

Having seen 8/10 matches in our last session not count due to this bug, we just played through the entire playoffs + additional dead rubber matches (approx 15 games all in all) and not encounter the error once. Completely baffled by what causes this error and what the dependencies are. I'd say it's random, but we either seem to have a session loitered by the issue or don't get it at all so not sure it's random at all.
