Waiting FOREVER for matches, please help

Can anyone share if they have found a solution to waiting extreme times to find matches?  I have heard that the elite division does not have as many teams, which can affect this.  I also hear that the matchmaking region can be changed, but this seems like a bad idea to change this.  Does anyone have any advice or things that they have found to increase finding games?  We did not have this issue much last year.  We do not play with an any or GK, so usually we will have the filters set to match our team, but lately we have been turning all the filters off because we are desperate to find a match.  This still doesn't seem to help.  I did notice during the playoff, we were finding matches very quickly, but as soon as the playoffs were done, going back to league we are now waiting 20-30 minutes to find a match, and sometimes we just give up.  Please give any advice if you have it.  Thanks!
