Did I miss an update?

I’ve played nothing but possession and tight control players in the past week, I’m div6 and did I miss something that made the standard controls feel like sludge? I feel like everyone I play against for the past week has modded controllers and advanced settings while I feel like I’m using a NES controller. I’m so confused, I’m not a stud but I’m not this bad normally did I miss something? 

also why on EARTH is everyone playing possession after going up 1 in RIVALS? Like full games of just back passing and sideways movement no attempts at attacking minus the odd counter. The rewards cannot be that good to play like that
