FC25 Defending - February

Be glad you didn't play ultimate team around fifa 16 through 19 or so then, keepers actually did their job in those games, and it was fun trying to score. I will say though in my game the defending isn't as bad as you say, a lot of the time I still sense enough ai help that they contribute something, can I ask what settings you use for switching players though? Are you right stick swtiching, and if so are you using the setting based on where the ball is or your player? Also what is your L1/LB switching set to? Goal side, closest to ball, or classic?

I use right stick ( Im trying to) and I use default settings, didnt touch anything.

Also nah, AI doesnt exist at all anymore, maybe it shows up once in 3 matches, but rarely.

No cbs/lb/rb marks opposite player.

If I switch to cb they get out of position so easily cuz they play like they got 150kg, if I DONT switch to them they just stand still and opponent scores goal w 2 passes

I would recommend using L1 and right stick depending, with L1 I have mine set goal side but it's about what you find better to use, and try changing right stick to be based off of the player you're using. It makes it much easier for me to find the player I want at least.

I know what you mean about the marking, they deliberately toned that down because of how it was, do you ever use R1 contain to get a player in front of them? It's not the best but it helps contain them till you can switch and make a tackle.

Also do you ever double tap and hold R1? It makes 2 ai players contain possible passing options. It's tricky to get the hang of but quite handy once you get used to it.

Those are the only things I could think of that might help with what you're experiencing

Ive been using R1 for that yeah, it helped me alot before, but now it’s kinda impossible because my player reactions are weak and not good, there’s like 0.5sec delay which is so annoying, my ping is 25-30 tho so that aint problem. 

same goes for dribbling, whenever i move my right stick to roll it delays and all that started happening after new patch.

I also believe the same, it is very difficult to defend. The midfielders ignore the play and do not collaborate in defense.

See I've experienced the dribbling side of it, I get roughly the same ping and sometimes it jsut doesn't register. I also have games where everything is on point though, I'm not sure if it's a server thing on the ea end of things, but the gameplay is so inconsistent from game to game that I can't think of anything else. Especially when you compare the gameplay difference between a rivals match and squad battles. I have an evo 90 rated João Gomes with 88 pace, in squad battles he feels rapid, in rivals he often feels like a slug.

Unfortunately I can't think of anything else it might be, but I hope that either the changes I recommended help, or that the gameplay improves for you. I still think they need to remove timed finishing and buff keepers slightly to balance the gameplay, without improving ai defence it's the only way they are going to reduce the ridiculous amount of goals in games. It's not fun to score anymore, it's not even something you have to work for really, it has been completely trivialised and it's bad for the game in my opinion.

I mean yeah they nerfed defense and buffed offense. So games are going to be higher scoring and defense will be harder. Rather than defend focus more on out scoring your opponent. 

Oh yeah don't do one of the most crucial things in football and just play like Tottenham have for most of the season. That's a ridiculous way to look at it to be honest, and the game is ridiculous the way it is, it is a broken mess. Defence and goalkeepers are crucial in football, yet most of the time I may aswell not have them on the field with how bad they are. 

Tell you what we should do based on your suggestion though, let's tell ea to just get rid of positions, they don't exist anymore and they can take away chemistry while they are it. Then we can all field full teams of broken attackers, with playstyle + for every shot. I mean if we shouldn't defend with defenders and goalkeepers shouldn't keep the goal safe what else can we do?

Also, why even let me move my keeper 2 steps? He still can't save the shot. 93 rated Casillas plays like he's three quarters blind and has concrete blocks on his feet to stop him from diving for a ball.

I wouldn’t try to relate this to real life. It’s just the truth. Anders won going 442 while everyone went defensive. Even in a defensive formation you will leak goals. 

But you are not wrong about positions. Now that pace is back if not for it already being halfway through we would need to get rid of positions as we would be back to fullbacks at cbs and attackers at midfield. I am not sure if you are joking or not but if we keep this style for next year your suggestion is a good one.
