Re: Connection Issues during peak times

I play the game every day and the only time I have issues with connection is when there are recognised server issues or my ISP is having issues.

I regularly work on my home network set-up to ensure it runs as best it can.

  • @EA_Darko So you play this game everyday. You're either lying or passionate. I don't think it's passionate because as someone who's supposed to lead this community it really feels like you're either A. Literally doing nothing or B. You're hands are tired.

We want honest communication and Straightforward answer.

We all want change. But as someone leading the charge, are you even ready ?

@FourSwords22 He isn’t wrong. I’ve never had delay. People make it out like everyone has delay and the servers are the issue it’s just not true. Try improving your connection or your setup. That is the honest answer and straight forward. It’s actually nice when ea communicate on here so you know what’s going on.

@EA_Darko Hi Darko, you said "I regularly work on my home network set-up to ensure it runs as best it can.", can you please tell us the things you do?

I guess what people are questioning is why do all our other multiplayer cross platform games consistently work without us having to reboot or reconfigure our home network?

    Thanks

@EA_Darko i'm quite interested in your setup too.

So, I've been reviewing mine for the last week, trying to figure out where i can do better, also because of what @RadioShaqs  was writing.

    - According to the EA connection quality tool, my provider is the fastest in the country. Up- and downloadspeeds are very good and the worst ping I had was 15ms during my tests. BUT.. it is also known among local gaming communities for not being the best, because it blocks certain ports, unabling to connect to NAT1. Not very familiar with what that does, but it has something to do with a stable connection? So maybe I was thinking to switch to a gaming router instead of what I have now?

    - Although I'm playing on a 100hz tv, it's an old one, and maybe not fit anymore to deal with the latest games. Not sure if it will make any difference to give it a try to change it.

I'm not worried about cables or controllers. I moved around a lot over the past 10 years, often changing playstations, cables and gear.

What I did notice over these years was the same as what was described in the first post of this thread: lots of delays in the connection, especially during weekends and school holidays. In between there were always a few games with normal gameplay, but then you stop playing for 20min, return to the game and it's again full of lags. I assume that is because it reconnects to a different server. But then again, that shouldn't be an issue since i'm in western Europe, and there are plenty of servers around.  Also, sometimes connection starts good but after 2min in the game, it drops.

Basically, in the last 10 years, I had 2 full days without any problems and smooth gameplay: 27 and 28th September of this year, the release date of EA FC25. Since i was so disappointed in the 24 edition, i decided to wait it out this year and not buy the new one immediately. To my surprise, gameplay on EA FC24 was suddenly without any lags and delays. My guess is that the EA FC24 servers were a lot less crowded because a lot of people moved towards the new game, but again: i'm not an expert.  Just describing what i see.

So, i'm quite puzzled. I can go for a new tv, new router and new ISP, which will cost me at least 1000€, and will not likely solve a lot. And for what? Everything is working properly except for one game full of issues. A whole new setup will not repair uncustomizable tactics, sweeper keepers glued to their lines, social distance-applying defenders, overpowered attackers, passes that fly around randomly, etc...

@brebikeFirst off test how bad your delay is. I’ve seen more do the test and come back and say they don’t have delay. Even I bought into the everyone has delay till I tested it.

Run the game with the online input overlay on this will give you real time data that tests will not. Count the seconds between button presses or stick movement this is how much delay you have.  One controller is connected to the server and one is local on the screen.

While a gaming router might help you those are used more for locking out other servers.

Are you connecting to the closest server this may or may not help you. Your isp will not always route you to the closest server.

Also if you are seeing delay during busy times then it’s your isp congestion. This experience would suggest it’s not a server issue. Darko explained this really well in a thread last year.

I feel the responsiveness of the controller to the local game seems delayed and this local delay wasn't there in FC24.

I play on PC so I have my controller (a QuadStick) attached via USB and it's detected as an Xbox controller.

Now the delay I have within the game seems to be a few milliseconds between when I physically move the controller or press a button to then that command being sent to the local game, once the game receives the command it displays correctly on both the input overlays on screen.

But how can I prove this because the delay seems to be between how quickly the game is receiving commands from my connected hardware?

I've disabled all Steam controller options.

I never felt this input delay between my physical controller and my local game in any other versions of Fifa or FC. I also don't have this delay when testing the hardware through https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad or in any other game.

EA if you know how I can prove this for you please let me know

@GSM350 Are you saying you don’t have delay online? It’s between your controller and the pc even in offline?

@RadioShaqs Yes I do have the delay online because the delay is in the entire game online and offline. The game itself seems to have a slight delay in reading / receiving instructions from my controller. It's especially noticeable when taking corners, the arc aim jerks when moving left and right, and the power bar continues to increase after I have already released the button.
