Restrictive Matchmaking in Online Seasons
Hi, Can anyone playing the ea fc 25 beta please let us know if restrictive matchmaking works in Online Seasons? If i pick a 4 star team, will the game give me games with 5 star teams like Man City, ...

We have 10 hours on the full game with EA play. I will test it. Hope it will be fixed, but not optimist about it, EA spits on Seasons players face
I do understand it and I don't expect to be playing other 4 star teams, but as I stated which maybe your not reading I'm still playing against Real Madrid etc even when I choose 3.5 star teams. It's very very rare I've played against a lower than 4.5 star team regardless of who I picked. I did go as far as picking Wrexham and I started coming up against some Polish teams which changed things up, but overall majority of people pick the highest rated teams like Madrid and France because they have Mbappe or Vini Jr etc and they wanna use speedsters down the wing to cut back and score.
I'm not even against what your saying I've shared my experiences but apparently I don't know what I'm talking about. I've been playing online since 07 and matchmaking online has never been great. Back in those days you could see who your opponents were picking before you went into the match so I'd just choose someone of similar quality, but you'd have idiots who would pick same team and insist on picking the same kit so we'd have clashes, then blind matchmaking begun and it didn't improve
@thurlow885 Nope, you still aren’t getting it. 3.5 / 4 star teams have NEVER been able to get 5 star teams till EA FC 24. how many times do I need to say this??? Yes people want to use Real and just dribble down the wing with Vini but before EA FC 24, these people could only get matched with 5 star teams. and it is totally EA’s fault for switching off restrictive matchmaking in EA FC 24. gosh, how much simpler do I need to make it

@thurlow885 it is as simple as this: before EA FC 24, restrictive matchmaking worked. i could pick 3.5 star teams like rangers and celtic and NEVER got 5 star teams. as @martinhoAlonso has attested to as well.
for ea fc 24, oddly enough, restrictive matchmaking worked in online cup mode. if you picked a 4 star team, you’d never get a 5 star team, even though most people are choosing Man City, Real Madrid.
only explanation is this: someone at EA forgot to turn restrictive matchmaking on or deliberately didnt do so for the seasons league component. that is sheer negligence and bordering on criminal.
It probably comes down to population and wait times. If you need restrictive matchmaking there probably isn’t enough demand for it.
@thurlow885 What don’t you understand in the fact that the matchmaking in FC 24?is literraly broken and was Good with older Fifa.
On fifa 23, for example, if You put restrictive and 4 star team, , if the Game doesn’t find an opponent, it says you ´no opponent found’ and on fc24 it finds very quickly with a 5 star team. I Got the impression that the Game doesn’t make a real search.@dazzelecloudy ea play costs 5€ for a month and You can play 10h with every New EA Game in their final version
@RadioShaqs another one who doesnt seem to understand restrictive matchmaking. how do you explain the fact that restrictive matchmaking worked completely fine before ea fc 24? you mean to say there were more players playing then compared to now?

how do you explain that in ea fc 24 restrictive matchmaking is turned on for cup mode, where there are even LESS people playing? go on, i wait to hear your explanation?

@thurlow885 cool i will check it out indeed. yes i completely remember the message ‘no opponent found’ sometimes coming up in fifa 23 and older. and i was fine with it because i will just search again. eventually there will be an opponent found.
all these defenders of EA answer this: if indeed you guys are right, there is no demand for restrictive matchmaking, why does the option exist for us to select then???? the option exists, we select it, it does not work??? what kind of weird situation is that? you guys don’t find it bizarre as hell???? what does it say about EA?
@EA_Hux how about replying in this thread about restrictive matchmaking in seasons instead of just replying in threads where $$$ is mentioned? the online seasons community deserves answers
- @dazzelecloudy Maybe there is less players playing it. 300 players is hardly enough to keep lobbies full.
I don’t know only ea would know the numbers.
I can say my experience with ut with bronze and silvers the population eventually fell off. When we started getting no opponents found it basically become a dead mode. They eventually did away with bronze objectives and only focused on silvers. Even that eventually fell off and now nobody uses either of those. No opponents found and long wait times can end a mode though.
Don’t forget that’s with ut that has way more of a population. I actually liked bronze and silver games and we had big sections on the old forums dedicated to them yet you couldn’t find a game for them.

FFS dunno how many time I gotta say I do understand, but how many more time do I have to explain I experienced this before EA FC 24 as well. Just cause you didn't or claim it was fine it wasn't for me. I won't reply anymore cause we're just going round in circles. I know what your saying I know how match making works or is suppose to work but I also know before FC 24 I was playing against 5 star teams when I was a 4 star team some times, but that seems too hard for you to understand. It's one of the reasons I gave up on Seasons..now I just play it sporadically towards the end of the game year because it's now boring and repetitive, I've even surrendered to playing Ultimate Team which I completely ignored until FIFA 21 altho I refuse to buy points etc. I know my experiences with Seasons, dont tell me I'm wrong and don't understand when I most definitely do
@thurlow885 the seasons community only started complaining about this from ea fc 24 and you claim that this has happened before that?? even if you are right, this is still EA’s fault - it is their stupid and mad decision to abolish restrictive matchmaking, while leaving the option there that is totally infuriating
@RadioShaqs again, none of what you said here directly addressed whatever i said earlier.
1) seasons database isnt 300 players. there are thousands of players and can go up to 5 digits on busy periods.
2) even if there arent enough players, why is restrictive matchmaking turned on for cup mode where there are even lesser players?
3) if they want to get rid of restrictive matchmaking, why is the option still there?
the more likely explanation is someone at EA forgot to turn the feature on. or the coding is wrong. fact of the matter is this is negligence and just is absolutely awful from EA. Look at how none of the EA moderators are responding here. we need to stop giving EA the benefit of the doubt and gaslight ourselves
- @dazzelecloudy They might adjust it depending on how it’s going. I know they have adjusted ut over the years. They posted the bell curve and the population before. Yes it would be nice if they explained it.
Ut is based on location and rank form ect but isn’t always exact to speed up wait times.
Your focused on everyone else’s opinion while yours is also guessing. You don’t know the numbers or what’s going on either. So all we can do is give our experiences and opinions until ea either explains it or releases a pitch notes ect. @RadioShaqs hahaha dude are you deluded? adjust? seasons players raised the issue of restrictive matchmkaing being switched off in october last year. they did absolutely nothing about it.
yes, we do know the numbers. the number of players on online seasons is clearly written on the seasons page. we do know there are less players in the cup mode. yet the mode with lesser players get restrictive matchmaking.
do EA have compromising material on you or something? you seem completely unwilling to entertain the fact that this is a company filled with some of the most incompetent people ever.

@RadioShaqs you did not engage in any discussion to begin with. from the start, all you were interested to do is to defend EA. i raised many points - about how seasons community was ignored since October last year, about how a game mode with less players had restrictive matchmaking switched on and the mode with more players did not, about how we can clearly see the number of players - you did not address a single one of them. all you said was: ‘EA is great and knows what they are doing’.
If you would like a discussion perhaps you could start by directly addressing what I said instead of just acting like EA’s biggest cheerleader

For us manual players, this change killed a whole community. Before 24 manual players were happy to wait 10 minutes to find another manual player. No problem. But now u can’t play manual vs manual.
