I constantly hear this nonsense that people don't like the gameplay after the update because they have to manually defend. I'm baffled by that, I think they mean using the analogue stick to control and position a player to close space or track a runner whilst pressing with AI players etc. I was doing that before this bloody "Refresh" garbage update.
They think this is why we don't enjoy the game. No, I don't enjoy it because it's gone from somewhat of a realistic, reasonable paced game to a ping pong, dumbed down, attack biased, arcade s* fest with no sense of simulation.
I stopped using things that added depth to the game, like manual switching defenders, shielding, triggering player runs, calling them short, slowing the game down then upping the tempo all adding variety and enjoyment in the gameplay because the game is so arcady and fast that you just naturally do the same s* every game because you can't play the game like a simulation anymore.
I see videos of those on YouTube, that are enjoying this ping pong game now and I just see the same cringe gameplay, press, ping pong passing, cutbacks, biomechanics defying turns and every shot in the corner. No variety, no randomness, all the same boring football. Almost a scripted feel to their play style. They even say, you don't have to think when passing or shooting now - wow. How are they enjoying this? I don't think they are, they're enjoying the end result.
PS it's effected the whole game. Af least career mode which I play or used to play regularly. Even with the custom sliders, the game feels awful. Ball almost stuck to the players feet when dribbling, De Ligt turning like Zidane, shots going in from ridiculous angles and passing like prime Barcelona on steroids.
