I only play seasons and noticed that Carvajal is catching up on Vini Jr many times.
Pace on the ball is generally slower than past years, especially on long balls.
Although some people with perfect connection can make every player burst past you as they perfectly time speed boosts. It's very frustrating.
This has been a thing since they reworked pace after FIFA 15. 16 had loads of moments where Pique types could catch Cristiano Ronaldo. Now there's a whole new issue where the Attackers sometimes just run in place or slow down enough to make Ruben Dias look like an Olympic sprinter.
It's like there's "catch up" on defenders. Similar to how racing games either speed up or slow down cars to keep the games balanced and competitive.
@lansenylEver since 15, EA realized they have to buff defense for the skill gap to be smaller. Otherwise casuals will just quit the game. FIFA 13-15 were really good e-sport games will a high skill gap and not much RNG.
