Cannot see friend in rivals play a friend lobby

Hi,

Me and my friend have an issue where we can see each other in the EA connect overlay on PC and he can invite me to a party but when I send him an invite he does not receive it. Additionally in Rivals play with a friend, he can invite me whether in a party or not but when I try to do the same, it shows no available friends even though we are both online and can see each other in the EA connect screen.

We are both on PC through Steam and both have the latest version of the game.

I don't understand how he can invite me but I can't invite him? We have checked our privacy/notification settings and everything is enabled, have tried deleting and re-adding as each other's friend and nothing is working and EA live help seemingly don't have the answer.

Has anyone managed to fix this yet?
