I can't sprint in the game

My brother and I have been playing career mode for years with great enjoyment, just the two of us against the bot. However, recently we started experiencing an issue: we can't sprint. Our sprint button is set to R1, but no matter how we press it, it doesn't work. To check if the problem was with the controller, we tried a 1v1 match, and it worked perfectly. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us resolve this issue.
