Yes exactly the same issue for me - I applied the 5 star skill moves I think and now he's a green evo card!
I have been on EA help live chat for an hour and basically got told "too bad". Customer service employee said her hands were tied and there was nothing she could do. Not even in terms on compensation or anything, just nothing.
