You are likely connecting to a server in the usa. So the person in the usa has a good connection. This wouldn’t be a server or ea issue it’s simply a distance issue.
If you do a speed test and ping any server not an ea server halfway around the world you will have higher ping.
Thanks for the response. I'm a cloud engineer and I actually understand this. Although, i'll expect EA to automatically connect players to servers approximately mid way from both players without any extra effort from players. It's strange to accept players won't be able to play online friendlies with their friends across the world in 2025😀

This is pretty basic stuff for match making and has been around as a development principle in gaming for the past few decades. So, of course EA would not do it 😂

Not sure if your reply is meant to be sarcastic or serious, but whatever. Looking deeper into this, I see in online-friendly mode, there are no real EA servers involved. It's technically the host acting as a server, and the other player joining the host's server.

I'll try to work around this issue using a router with geofilter to force my console to connect to East coast servers, and also setup a VPN on the router routing my traffic via the East coast. Theoretically, Using a proxy will already introduce extra hops and will probably affect my ping negatively, but it might just provide better routing than my ISP and at this point I'll try everything possible.
