PS5-FC25 Slow, Unresponsive gameplay online and offline when connected to server

Issue: Unresponsive and slow gameplay on ultimate team. tested 6 ISPs at 4 different locations yet facing the same issue.

Hello! 

I have been playing Ultimate team since December 2023 on FC24 and now I play the same on FC25. I was hoping the slow gameplay would be fixed in FC25 but nothing has changed. I see it as a server issue more than my internet because I have travelled to 4 different locations tried multiple ISPs and nothing worked for me.

I have had normal/perfect gameplay exactly in 6 games and that is why I can actually tell the difference when the gameplay is fine and when it is not. Sometimes it drops off mid game and suddenly my whole team becomes slow. I am winning 5-1 at 60mins and now the gameplay becomes slower and I concede 6 goals. I cant pass nor keep the ball. My players just wont move.

Problem is the whole team is slow AND the opponents are faster than you. This happens to me in every single game.  My players move slow. Well one for example, the pace is fine but the time it takes for the players to react and reach their top speed is too long and anyone can catchup with my pacey players.

Observations: 

1. What I have noticed is that even SQUAD BATTLES which is an offline game where you are playing against AI is slow and unresponsive.

2. This led to be see if being connected to EA servers affects my gameplay so I played kickoff games while being connected to EA servers and a few games without it and I could actually see the difference. Sometimes kick-off games were also quite slower while being connected to EA servers.

3. Competitive mode: I participated in the FC 25 pro open ladders. I was told that competitive mode works peer2peer(p2p) where servers are not involved between the two players connection when you select the 'DIRECT' option as your server. Well even in this case, my players were reacting slower than my opponent.

This somewhat implies that being connected to EA server (which you need to be, to be able to play online) affect your gameplay inadvertently. 

4. The problem i am talking about is across all the game formats be it Rivals, Champs, Rush, Clubs, Seasons, Friendlies...... you name it!

5. Next, I decided to play ultimate team with a different account on the same PS5, same ISP, and at the same location. Now the gameplay actually worked better on this account for a few games. I started seeing the same issue again after a few games. It was not a perfect gameplay but it was definitely better than what I had on my main account but that lasted for only a few games. Not more than a day.  specifically, after reaching div6 I started seeing this issue. Now we cannot really tell if it was after reaching a higher division or just that server decided act out on me. I have heard from my friends that they saw something similar as well.

(Please do not tell me it just got harder for you because no I can actually tell the difference after having played on different accounts, on different days, at different times, at different locations, on different ISPs. I have tried everything!!!! 🙂 )

6. Another issue I have noticed is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! sometimes the gameplay is much smoother on Wi-Fi!!!! Yes, i have switched between Wi-Fi and LAN alternatively every game and when Wi-Fi works better it just works better. This is unbelievable. I have video recordings of everything but this. I cant really prove it you. You will have to just take my word for it. This is definitely weird. 

CONNECTION QUALITY REPORT:
 

I have also looked into EA connection quality report. I have played on multiple ISPs at different locations as I have already mentioned. I have had connections scores ranging from 70 to 98.
I had a connection which consistently had a  'GREAT' connection quality, 20ms Ping, 0 jitter, 0% packet loss. This was one of the worst connection I ever played on as it consistently gave me a slow gameplay and never improved. I asked my ISP do some changes like changing IP and default gateway and that did not help either. Some games which had a 'poor' connection quality actually was better than having a 'great' connection quality. That is because one ping spike mid-game can affect your quality to go from 'great' to 'poor'

I can certainly tell you that the connection quality report does not in any way reflect the problem I am facing (in fact a lot of people around the world are facing).

This means there is something that is going unnoticed on your servers/'Netcode'/ or I do not know. None of us know how you have everything structured so we can't really point at anything. This is something you should be really be taking seriously and trust me you will get a lot more active players around the world.

I have also faced the same issue in a different country while I was there. Does that mean something is wrong with certain accounts? Well refer  #no.5 under observations

I urge anyone that is going to be replying under this thread to keep it civil and stay calm and ignore if anyone blames your internet for the issue. Let's not rage which we all do because of the horrendous gameplay due to poor servers. We need EA to look into this and fix it

  • I should add that I have

                  1. uninstalled and reinstalled the game

                  2. reset my PS5 to factory settings 

                  3. Cleared cache and restored database 

                  4. restored licenses 

                  5. turned off login verification and played and turned it back on ( as instructed by one your support members)

                  6. made another squad and played on that ( as instructed) 

    NOTHING WORKED 🙂

    I am having thye exact same issues with no response or answers via ea help.

    My internet is business tier with top of the line tp link gaming router. i even went to the length of purchasing a new console to rule that out.

    I’m having the exact same issue, players aren’t moving the way they should move, the movement is completely delayed.. I bought a new controller thinking that was the issue but I was wrong, I bought a new Ethernet cable but nothing changed, I don’t get these kind of issues when I play Fortnite or Call Of Duty..

  • The only thing I can assume is that this is a feature of the game. I wish EA cared but maybe the only way they will is if we all stop playing all EA games altogether.
