Unable to see a friend despite having him added for years

My friends account was banned for 72 hours. After returning i can no longer see him added as a friend, nor can i search to add him or even remove him. Yet I can see when he invites me and by see I mean its a hollowed out invite notification not showing any player details when i hover over it. Unable to play rivals with him due to this issue. To add to this I am able to play on other Ea games with him just not fc25.
