Evolution reset enquiry

I put Ilić future stars card into the deep lying playmaker ++ evolution not thinking it would make this item an evolutions II item and not let me put this into the later star power II evolution which was the only reason I did this card.  Surely there should be a way ea could fix this and reset my evolution back so I could have the original player and use him in the Star power II evolution. I don’t understand why the role ++ evolution makes him unavailable to use in the star power II evo.
