Fantasy FC Cup - glitch?

Not a great format but I started the objectives this afternoon.  Winning every 3rd or 4th game.  Came back on this evening and I'm at game 20

 trying for a win.

A specific glitch or just more proof that most of the games are decided when you get paired with your opponent?
