Friend not appearing online for co-op

I want to play co-op with my friend, using my team, but he does not appear when I want to invite him to a co-op rivals / friendlies game.

He does show up when I try to invite him to a rush game.

I appear on his game, so he can invite me to rivals as well as friendlies using his team with no problems.

i play on Xbox series x, whereas he is on ps5.

crossplay is turned on for both of us.
