Will I know longer be able to evo my Future Stars Evo player?

I chose Niccolo Pisilli as my Future Stars Evo player as he fit best in my team. Upon playing matches i had completed the first stage of his evolution taking him to 84 rated. 

After doing so i proceeded to put my Playstyles on him and then while doing so i achieved the “Assist 6” part of the Future Stars Play objective. Which rewarded me with a DLP role ++. Due to Pisilli being a CM and in my tactic his position and role was as a DLP at CM i figured i would put said evolution on him.

However upon doing so he is no longer a Future Stars Evo and instead an Evo II. Despite the fact i was awarded for getting assists with a Future Star player in my team.

Have i now lost the ability to continue the evo?
