Child account issues

TLDR; child accounts can’t add friends to play together, no email address on accounts so can’t be added to family management, EA say wait until they’re 13

My 9yo has a child EA account. He wants to play FC26 with his friends from school. The issue is they can’t add each other as friends in FC26 because of EA’s strict child account policies.

When I created his child account there was no option to add an email address to his account. This means I can’t log into his account through the EA app or website because he only has a username and they don’t let you sign in with that. Now, EA advertises a family management option that lets you adjust some of these settings. The problem here is that there is no way to add the child account to the family management system and adjust the parental controls because you need to send an invite to the email address associated with the child account - seeing the issue here EA?

I appreciate child accounts and parental controls  I use them for all of my son’s gaming and online activities. However, I like to be able to adjust these to suit our needs - including letting my son play with his friends when I’m supervising their online play.

After a lot of online searching it seems that EA’s only answer to this, is to wait until the child is 13 and upgrade their account to a teen account because then you can add an email address.

Please tell me there is someone working for EA that sees how insane this is and has an answer that makes sense? Surely they didn’t create a football game that doesn’t allow kids to play together?
