Matchmaking in Seasons is broken: impossible to play with 4-star teams

Message for EA Sports FC 26 – Online Seasons Mode

Hi EA Team,

I’d like to report a serious issue with the matchmaking system in Online Seasons mode on EA Sports FC 26. Since launch, the game almost never matches me with opponents using teams of the same star level, especially when I choose 4 or 4.5-star clubs.

In FC 25, matchmaking worked much more fairly — when playing with a 4-star team, opponents were usually within the same rating range. In FC 26, however, I constantly get matched against 5-star teams like PSG, Manchester City, or Real Madrid. This completely ruins the competitive balance and takes away the fun of using mid-tier clubs.

I understand that the new matchmaking algorithm prioritizes connection quality and faster search times, but this change has broken the balance that made this mode enjoyable for many players. Those of us who love using less popular or mid-level teams now feel forced to play only with top-tier clubs.

Suggestions:

Please restore the previous matchmaking logic that prioritized team rating parity before connection.

Or, at least, add an option like “match only with teams of the same star level.”

This would bring back the fairness and variety that made Online Seasons a great experience.

Thank you for your attention. I hope this issue can be reviewed in the next Title Update, as the current system has significantly hurt the enjoyment of the mode.
