Request: More South American Icons in EAFC like Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama

I wanted to share something that a lot of players I’ve talked to agree on: the game needs more South American representation in the Icon lineup. Right now the list is heavily European, and it leaves out a huge part of football history.

One name that really stands out is Carlos Valderrama. He’s one of the most recognizable players of the 90s, a huge figure in Colombian football, and someone who many fans still associate with creativity and flair. He used to be in the game years ago, so the rights have been worked out before. It would be great to see him return.

More broadly, South America has so many legends that shaped the sport — from Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, and beyond. Adding more of them would make the Icon pool feel fuller and more global, especially for players from CONMEBOL regions who don’t get as much representation.

Hoping the team considers bringing Valderrama back and expanding the group of South American Icons in future titles. A lot of us would appreciate seeing these legends honored in the game again.
