Backline literally opens gaps allowing strikers to walk through

I was running my midfielders back to help and watched the two CB literally spread apart away from the striker by the time i switched to the CB to correct their positioning the striker was already at full speed and there was no chance of me catching him.  But I literally watched the CBs both spread apart towards the wings it was unbelievable.  I have noticed this is happening on a regular basis.  The centerbacks are literally spreading apart from each other to hold formation with no concern of any passing lanes for through balls.  This is being exploited by most players and makes defense extremely difficult to be consistent, which takes away the feeling of skilled competition and leaves a sour taste in your mouth like you were cheated almost every game.  It has taken the fun and replaced it with utter frustration.  The AI defenders in competitive gameplay need to be adjusted in simple fundamentals on how to expand and contract intelligently.  As soon as you move a player out of formation the AI defenders do not respond in cohesion with their teammates and focus more on holding formation which just creates gaps so big that the striker can literally walk in.  EA please adjust the simple fundamental understanding of the AI to be able to adjust with the user.  On offense the AI make runs and find open space while on defense the AI can not contract the formation to make the passing lanes smaller like a normal team would in real life.
