Coin wipe bans, evo trading and unusual price spikes. Official advice???

Last year EA coin wiped a lot of people for trading based on evolution requirement price spikes and then used the reasoning as coin selling/buying when it wasn't.

Clearly the issue was mismanaged. If we stock up on 650 coin high evo potential cards now and they spike to 7-10k, is that still coin wipe territory? How do traders avoid getting wiped for genuine trading moves?

Edit: the appeal system is not a solution. It's slow, largely automated and very unfair. So that is not an answer.
