I think a lot of people are using precision over assisted these days with shooting. So that is a middle ground where there is more shot error but the rewards tend to be better if you get accuracy and power right. And rightly so. Assisted shooting should be banned from online competitive play just like legacy defending was some time back.
I personally think that if someone keeps spamming the heck out of 2nd man press then team shape should suffer. There has to be some consequences for someone constantly using it. So I think spaces should appear where at least one player would have been.
I definitely see AI defenders moving position, either coming from wide inwards or centerbacks moving out wide to cover.
If worried about shape then double tapping R1/RB tells them to mark tight when out of possession. It helps with closer marking. It won't save you (and rightly so) But it will help with shape (within reason).
