Glitches, bad gameplay and no hope for future
I highly doubt FC 27 will be any less frustrating, considering the state this game is in near the end of its cycle.
I've reached the point where I no longer see the point in getting angry. I've taken breaks from the game and now play much less than before. The problem is that this game manages to become frustrating no matter how calm or relaxed you try to be.
I've played so many matches this year that I can usually tell how a game is going to feel within the first few minutes. Yet there are still matches where it genuinely feels like you're fighting invisible forces rather than your opponent.
What's strange is that sometimes I'll face a genuinely skilled player in Weekend League—someone who clearly knows what they're doing—and the gameplay feels smooth and fair. I have chances, they have chances, and if I lose, I can accept it.
Then I'll play someone who can barely string passes together, yet everything somehow works for them. Every rebound falls their way, every tackle bounces back, every shot finds the net, while your players miss easy chances or stand in bizarre positions all game long. You can clearly see the opponent isn't nearly as good, yet you lose and leave the match wondering what exactly happened.
That's when the frustration starts.
Bruiser+ was frustrating before, fine. EA changed it. But now it still doesn't make sense.
I have defenders with 99 Strength who can't take the ball from Dummornay, who is half their size. Then you play against someone with weaker defenders and suddenly Bruiser works perfectly against you.
And of course now people simply abuse Enforcer+ instead.
Even without PlayStyles, some attackers can shield the ball so effectively that it's almost impossible to win possession without fouling them. That's not exactly ideal when they're standing inside your penalty box.
The biggest problem is the lack of consistency.
Every time you enter a match, you're wondering:
"What mechanic won't work this time?"
You should be thinking about football, tactics, and decision-making—not trying to figure out which part of the gameplay is broken today.
Tactics themselves feel almost pointless.
You set your defensive line deeper. It still pushes high.
You instruct players to stay back. They still wander out of position.
And there are bugs that have existed since launch that EA still hasn't fixed:
- Goal net colors and pitch line colors are still randomly changing.
- You load into a match expecting the standard ball and instead get some random dark or black ball that's difficult to see.
- And of course that's frustrating because visibility matters in a football game. Sometimes it genuinely feels like everything in this game is designed to make the experience harder than it needs to be.
- Kick-off glitches are less common than before, but they're still there.
- Various visual and gameplay bugs have existed for months without being properly addressed.
One of the most ridiculous examples is Squad Battles.
EA gives players objectives that require scoring huge numbers of goals on Beginner difficulty.
You finish a match 30–0.
Surprise: the game disconnects you from Ultimate Team and awards you a loss.
The solution isn't for EA to fix the bug.
The solution is for players to already know about it and intentionally score an own goal during the match so they don't get disconnected.
Apparently we're expected to discover bugs, test them, and find workarounds ourselves despite being customers, not QA testers employed by EA. 😒
At some point you stop asking whether the gameplay is balanced and start wondering why so many basic issues still exist this late into the game's life cycle.
Edit:
As you can see from the screenshot I attached showing the stats from my last match:
I genuinely faced the weakest opponent I've played in months, yet I still had to fight nervously for the win.
After going 1–0 up, I hit the post three times and missed several chances from ideal positions. My opponent could barely get anywhere near my penalty area. I eventually made it 2–0, but only after struggling to convert chance after chance, including hitting the woodwork a few more times.
Then he scored with his very first shot on target, after reaching my box thanks to a couple of fortunate deflections. On his next shot, I honestly thought he was going to equalize. I barely managed to deflect it out for a corner with my defender.
Just look at the stats yourselves.
Does that honestly seem normal to you?
