What am I doing wrong

Every game I go into, which is a hardwired connection, on a stable 20 ping at worst.

But why does my AI act differently to my opponents. 

My AI defence can’t run outpace the opposition, yet my center backs have speed rating of 90,90,92,94….most times they can’t keep up with 85-90 speed attackers, yet the defence is meant to get a speed boost. Because my 2 90 pace strikers can’t get away from a 86 speed Gabriel (like in my last game)

my AI stands there and is reactive and not proactive like the opponents defence. Yet I have the player skill tactic on defend /defend. Yet the OP Ai covers, proactively, follows runs, covers through balls, follows the player, I even get swarmed when to close to the goal.

im clearly missing something, I don’t do rivals etc. because I don’t spend and well behind the curve with my club level. So never keep up with the strats.
