EA FC 26 stuck on shader compilation – multiple troubleshooting attempts
Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with EA Sports FC 26 on PC. The game either opens to a black screen or gets stuck indefinitely on “Compiling Shaders.”
Here are my PC specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7600
- RAM: 16 GB (2×8 GB)
- Storage: SSD
- Platform: Steam
- Operating System: Windows 11 (recently repaired/reinstalled)
Problem description:
When launching the game through Steam, the EA AntiCheat window opens, then the game starts. After that one of the following happens:
1. The game stays on a black screen indefinitely.
2. The game shows “Compiling Shaders”, but the progress bar either does not appear or stops and never progresses.
Sometimes CPU usage starts around 40–60% and then gradually drops to 0%, while the game remains stuck.
Additionally, the game initially did not create configuration files (.ini) inside the Documents folder, which I understand can indicate permission or initialization problems.
Troubleshooting steps I have already tried:
- Updated motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
- Updated GPU drivers (AMD Adrenalin) and also tested different driver versions.
- Clean driver installation.
- Forced the game to launch with DirectX 11 through Steam launch options.
- Cleared shader caches.
- Reinstalled the game.
- Verified game files through Steam.
- Checked and fixed Windows system files using SFC /scannow.
- Attempted DISM repair.
- Performed a Windows repair installation using the Windows ISO.
- Checked folder permissions in Documents and manually created the EA Sports FC 26 folder.
- Tested CPU affinity changes during shader compilation.
- Verified Secure Boot and BIOS settings.
Despite these steps, the issue still occurs.
Because the system meets the recommended requirements and other games run normally, I would like assistance diagnosing why FC 26 cannot complete shader compilation or start correctly.
Please let me know if logs, crash reports, or additional diagnostics are needed.
Thank you.
