Fc 27 career mode

I have played FIFA/FC for many years, and Manager Career has always been the mode I care about most.

I actually like many of the ideas EA has introduced: Dynamic OVR, player roles, stamina management, youth development and more realistic squad management. The problem is that too many of these systems currently work against each other instead of creating a realistic football career.

I don’t want Career Mode to become Football Manager. I just want the game to understand football situations better and give us more ways to build our own club and identity.

  1. Squad management needs context

Rotation should matter, but FC 27 takes it too far.

A player can start around 33 out of 38 league matches, miss several matches through injury or fitness, and still complain about playing time or even request a transfer.

The game needs to understand availability, not just appearances. If a player starts almost every match he was actually fit and available for, he shouldn’t think he is being ignored.

The same applies to stamina. I like having to rotate my squad, but I shouldn’t need three different starting XIs just to survive a busy week. Players with excellent stamina shouldn’t constantly feel exhausted.

Make rotation a managerial decision, not something the game forces to an unrealistic level.

  1. Dynamic OVR and player development need to understand performance

Dynamic OVR is a fantastic concept, but match ratings don’t always understand what different positions are supposed to do.

The clearest example is goalkeepers.

If my goalkeeper keeps 20–25 clean sheets but my defence is so good that he only faces one or two shots per match, he can receive mediocre ratings and suffer in development.

My goalkeeper shouldn’t need me to defend worse so he can make six saves and get a good rating.

Clean sheets, distribution, claiming crosses, sweeping, communication and other goalkeeper actions should matter.

The same principle should apply to CBs and defensive midfielders. Development shouldn’t mainly reward goals and assists – it should understand the player’s role.

  1. Attacking movement and tactical control need much more depth

This is one of my biggest gameplay frustrations.

I can reach a perfect crossing position and see my striker remain outside the box, the opposite winger fail to attack the far post, or another player make a run away from the dangerous space. Players can also stay offside far too long instead of resetting.

We need more tactical control over how our team attacks:

  • Near-post and far-post runs
  • Number of players attacking the box
  • Cutback/45-degree positioning
  • Crossing patterns and overlapping runs
  • Pressing width and height
  • Midfield cover and holding positions

Player roles are useful, but they shouldn’t replace detailed team instructions.

Let us create our own football philosophy.

  1. Let us actually build a football club

This is something I have wanted from Career Mode for years.

If I manage a club for ten seasons, I want to see evidence that ten years have passed.

Let us invest club money into the academy, training facilities, medical department, scouting network and stadium.

If I take a small club from the lower leagues to the Champions League, let me expand an 8,000-seat stadium into 15,000, then 25,000. Let me improve the academy and actually see the facilities develop.

That would make long-term saves feel like we are building something instead of simply collecting a larger transfer budget.

  1. Clubs should visually evolve between seasons

Career players have asked for kit customisation for years, and Create-a-Club already has systems for custom kits, colours and stadium details.

I’m not asking to destroy club identities. Liverpool should still be red and Real Madrid should still be white.

But every summer, let us choose between a few appropriate kit templates. Change the collar, pattern, secondary colours or goalkeeper kit.

Kit manufacturer contracts could also eventually become part of Career Mode. Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc. could offer different contracts and bonuses.

Imagine looking back after ten seasons and actually seeing different eras of your club.

  1. Youth Academy players need individuality

Academy players are some of the most memorable parts of a long Career save, but generated players can quickly feel repetitive.

We need more variety in names, faces, hairstyles, body types and appearances appropriate to different countries.

A 15-year-old wonderkid should feel like your discovery, not like the fifth variation of another generated player.

And youth facilities should matter. A world-class academy should feel different from the academy of a small lower-league club.

  1. Make the football world feel alive again

Pre-season is a perfect example.

Let us choose an actual USA, Asia or European tour, with appropriate opponents and stadiums. Make it an opportunity to test young players and establish the squad for the season.

Important matches should also feel important.

A UEFA Super Cup against PSG shouldn’t feel like another normal match. A title decider, Champions League final, academy debut or club legend’s final home match should have more presentation and recognition.

Career Mode doesn’t need scripted stories everywhere.

It needs to recognise the stories that naturally happen in our saves.

  1. Please improve the foundations before adding more systems

Better menus, logical player reactions, sensible stamina, reliable player development, better attacking AI and deeper tactics would improve Career Mode more than another feature that doesn’t interact properly with the existing systems.

That’s what frustrates me about FC 27: many of the ideas are actually good.

Dynamic OVR is a good idea.

Realistic rotation is a good idea.

Player morale is a good idea.

Smarter attacking intelligence is a good idea.

Youth development is a good idea.

But these systems need to understand context.

I want to make difficult managerial decisions. I don’t want to fight against broken logic.

Career Mode has so much potential. Many of us have played this mode for years because we love creating our own football stories.

Give us deeper club building, more tactical freedom, smarter player behaviour and a world that actually changes around us.

FC doesn’t need to become Football Manager.

It just needs to become a deeper football career.

  • Your criticism of player morale, squad rotation, and dynamic overall systems for keepers is all spot on. Thank you for writing this out.
