Summary of the Issue
Ultimate Difficulty Is Too Easy – Predictable AI Behavior, Weak Defensive Pressure, and Unrealistic Attacking Patterns
Description of the Issue
Dear EA SPORTS FC Development Team,
I am writing to report significant issues with the AI behavior in EA SPORTS FC 27, specifically in Manager Career Mode on PlayStation 5.
Despite playing on Ultimate difficulty, the highest difficulty level available, and experimenting with various gameplay settings, I find the game extremely easy to win. The AI does not provide a realistic or challenging football experience, making it possible to complete an entire season without losing a single match. This significantly reduces the game’s long-term enjoyment and replayability.
The main issues I have experienced are:
Lack of Defensive Pressure
AI-controlled opponents are far too passive when defending. They often allow me to maintain possession, turn, dribble, and advance without applying sufficient pressure. Even on Ultimate difficulty, their defensive behavior does not feel aggressive, intelligent, or challenging enough.
Predictable Attacking Patterns
The AI relies heavily on a repetitive attacking pattern: sending players toward the wings and attempting crosses into the penalty area. These attacks are so predictable that they become easy to anticipate and defend against. The AI rarely varies its approach or creates enough diverse attacking situations.
Poor Dribbling and Lack of Creativity
Opposition players rarely use effective dribbling or individual skill to create opportunities. They often make predictable movements instead of taking on defenders, exploiting spaces, or creating chances through intelligent combinations.
Weak and Ineffective Shooting
AI-controlled players frequently produce weak or poorly executed shots. Their finishing does not pose a consistent threat, allowing me to defend comfortably and win matches without facing meaningful attacking pressure.
Insufficient Challenge on Ultimate Difficulty
The combination of passive defending, repetitive wing attacks, limited dribbling, and ineffective shooting makes Ultimate difficulty feel far easier than it should be. Increasing the difficulty or adjusting gameplay settings has not resolved these fundamental AI behavior issues.
Requested Improvements
I strongly encourage the development team to improve the AI’s overall tactical intelligence and decision-making. Specifically, I would like to see:
More aggressive, intelligent, and coordinated defensive pressing.
Greater variety in attacking strategies instead of relying so heavily on wing play and crosses.
More realistic dribbling, skill moves, and one-on-one situations.
More accurate, varied, and dangerous shooting and finishing.
Better tactical adaptation based on the match situation, scoreline, and opponent’s playing style.
A genuinely challenging Ultimate difficulty that rewards tactical awareness, good decision-making, and skill rather than predictable AI behavior.
I want to enjoy Manager Career Mode over multiple seasons, but the current AI behavior makes matches feel repetitive and results too easy to predict. Winning should require concentration, tactical adjustments, and consistent performance—not simply exploiting the same predictable patterns.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that future updates address these issues. A meaningful improvement in AI intelligence and tactical variety would make a substantial difference to the overall gameplay experience.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to seeing improvements in future updates.
Best regards,
A dedicated EA SPORTS FC player
