FC28 Suggestions: Career Mode/ Offline Mode
I wanted to share my feedback and ultimate wishlist for Career Mode, focusing on features that would drastically improve immersion alongside a few critical bugs that desperately need patching by EA. A major addition would be the ability to fully customise and change jerseys at the start of every season across all modes, not just Create-a-Club. To get around strict real-world sponsor licensing, the game could provide a library of generic preset logos or even allow players to import their own custom assets. Additionally, the youth academy needs a complete rebalance to prevent rushed development. Currently, teenagers hit 90+ ratings far too quickly, so a slower and more realistic progression system is necessary. Players should also have a menu option to toggle off dynamic overalls entirely to maintain realistic, static potential projections across multiple seasons.
Player Career Mode also requires a massive overhaul to give users more agency, depth, and consequences. The mode currently feels isolated, and bringing back a true storyline experience like The Journey would fix this. We need cinematic cutscenes, customisable contract demands with specific clauses, and the ability to adjust a player's height and weight to a certain extent mid-career as their physical training evolves. Most importantly, there should be an option to reply to the manager when they message or bench you, allowing for actual dialogue and interaction rather than a one-way system. Players should also be able to easily submit a transfer request and have a logical path to moving clubs during transfer windows.
To make player careers truly realistic, the manager rating system needs to be completely rewritten. Right now, a 60-rated player can theoretically start regularly at a world-class club like Real Madrid simply by performing well in training drills. This ruins the challenge. Instead, players need to experience actual squad rotation. We need to be benched sometimes, face periods with zero playing time if our form drops, and even have the risk of getting dropped to a B-team or reserve squad if we do not meet the standards of a top-tier club.
Finally, there are two legacy bugs that are completely breaking the mode and need immediate attention. First, the Ballon d'Or ceremony cutscene remains consistently glitched, either failing to trigger, showing the wrong player holding the trophy, or crashing the save file. Second, the Play Highlights engine is deeply flawed. When loading into a highlight, the engine regularly spawns user-controlled players directly into an automatic offside position. The physics during these highlights are also broken, causing the ball to slide unnaturally across the pitch while creating heavily scripted and impossible defensive scenarios. Prioritising these features and patches would completely transform the offline experience for the community.
