Improve Rush Drop-Ins: Bonus Matchmaking, Vote to Kick & Team Forfeit

Overview:
While Rush is a great fast-paced addition to Ultimate Team, playing Drop-In matches with random teammates is currently plagued by frustrating player behavior and missing Quality-of-Life (QoL) features. From lobby selfishness to AFK controller manipulation and being trapped in unwinnable blowout matches, the mode urgently needs better team-management tools to protect solo players' time and enjoyment.

1. Lobby Friction: Ignoring Rush Point Bonuses vs. Evolution Grinding

The frustration often begins before the match even kicks off. In the player selection lobby, random teammates frequently ignore the Rush Point Bonuses entirely—which are the primary reason most players grind the mode—and instead lock in random cards solely to complete their personal Evolution requirements. This clash of priorities ruins the team's point multiplier from the start.

  • Proposed Fix: Introduce matchmaking preferences (e.g., "Bonus Points Focus" vs. "Evolutions / Casual") or adjust how bonus multipliers are rewarded so players who actually fulfill block requirements aren't heavily penalized by selfish lobby picks.

2. In-Game Griefing & AFK Manipulation: Add a "Vote to Kick Player" Feature

During matches, solo players constantly suffer from extreme ball-hogging, refusal to pass, or blatant AFK griefing. Many players intentionally rubber-band their controllers to run out of bounds, or simply flick their analog sticks randomly whenever the server's inactivity warning pops up just to bypass the auto-kick timer. This forces the rest of the team to play shorthanded in a 3v4 or 2v4 scenario, wasting everyone's time and ruining team morale.

  • Proposed Fix: Implement an in-game "Vote to Kick Player" system (as shown in the attached UI concept). If a unanimous majority of the remaining teammates (e.g., 3/3) vote to remove a grieving or AFK player, that user should be kicked and replaced by an AI teammate. While any vote system carries a minor risk of misuse, it can be easily safeguarded by only allowing votes to be triggered against players with prolonged low match ratings, repeated out-of-bounds movement, or inactivity warnings.

3. Trapped in Blowout Matches: Add a Penalty-Free Team "Vote to Forfeit"

Video games are meant to be fun and entertaining. However, in Rush, when a team falls behind by a massive margin early on with no realistic chance of a comeback, players are forced to sit through the entire match doing random things just to run down the clock. Unlike 1v1 modes where you can simply forfeit, hand the win to your opponent, and move on to the next match, forcing a whole team to endure a completely decided blowout feels like an unnecessary punishment.

  • Proposed Fix: Differentiate between solo rage-quitting and a mutual team surrender. If a single player quits alone, they should be penalized for abandoning their teammates. However, if the entire team agrees via a "Vote to Forfeit" prompt (as illustrated in the attached concept), the match should end immediately, award the win to the opposing team, and allow the forfeiting team to exit without suffering a DNF penalty or coin/point reduction.

Conclusion:

Giving active teammates the agency to remove AFK griefers and mutually forfeit one-sided matches will drastically improve the health, pace, and enjoyment of Rush Drop-In matches.
