World Class Difficulty Is an Embarrassment to Gameplay Balance in FC 27

EA seriously needs to address the ridiculous and blatantly unbalanced World Class difficulty in FC 27. There is a difference between creating a challenging football simulation and artificially handicapping the player to manufacture difficulty. Right now, World Class feels like the latter.

Professional difficulty is laughably easy, but the moment you switch to World Class, even mediocre teams suddenly transform into prime Barcelona. Players with average ratings possess superhuman reactions, flawless ball control, ridiculous physical strength, and an almost supernatural ability to avoid tackles.

Meanwhile, my defenders apparently forget how to play football. I can position myself perfectly, repeatedly attempt tackles, and still watch an AI opponent casually stroll through my defense as though my players don’t exist. Yet the AI barely has to breathe on my attackers to knock them off the ball and regain possession.

How is that remotely realistic or balanced?

What makes this particularly frustrating is that the AI doesn’t necessarily appear more intelligent. It simply seems to operate under a completely different set of rules. Its players react faster, recover quicker, shield the ball more effectively, and win physical confrontations with an absurd level of consistency.

Even lower-rated teams can suddenly play like Champions League contenders. Apparently, EA’s definition of difficulty is turning ordinary footballers into a combination of Messi, Maldini, and Superman.

And before anyone dismisses this as a skill issue, I’ve beaten World Class opponents. Winning doesn’t magically make the gameplay fair or enjoyable. I don’t mind losing to a better opponent. I mind losing because the game appears to manipulate the mechanics to manufacture a challenge.

This is especially unacceptable in Ultimate Team, where players invest considerable time and, in many cases, real money building competitive squads. What exactly is the point of acquiring elite players if mediocre AI opponents can consistently outperform them through seemingly artificial advantages?

EA needs to understand something: Frustration is not the same thing as difficulty. Artificial disadvantages are not the same thing as intelligent AI. And unrealistic gameplay is not the same thing as a challenging football simulation.

Nobody is asking for World Class to become another version of Professional. We’re asking for a properly balanced difficulty setting where opponents challenge us through intelligent positioning, tactics, passing, and decision-making—not through what feels like predetermined tackles, exaggerated physical advantages, and impossible ball retention.

For a franchise with EA’s resources and decades of football gaming experience, this level of difficulty balancing is disappointing.

Fix the tackling. Fix the physicality. Fix the inconsistent AI behavior. And most importantly, stop confusing unfair gameplay with challenging gameplay.

World Class should test our football skills, not our patience.

  • Totally agree. I’m not very good although been playing a long time. I’m struggling through Division 8 right now. Best ever for me is Division 4 in FC26.

World Class and Legendary are very hard for me.

  • The whole gameplay this year is embarrassing. Whilst I can win at that level I totally understand your point.

This gameplay stinks of incompetence and all involved should be embarrassed by what has been put forward this year.
